T Sisters, the Hot Contemporary Folk Band performs at Calaveras Arts Ovations Series on January 31
Angels Camp, CA...SF Weekly recently posted that the T Sisters are on the top of the list for artists to watch in 2016. Beautiful harmonies, melodic voices, a family band in the 21st century, and honest-to-goodness traditional folk musicians: Is it possible to be both a beautiful relic of the past and perfect for the present? It is if you’re the T Sisters. Chloe, Rachel, and Erika Tietjen sing and you just feel better about the world. Even when the song is sad their music lets you sit with that sadness and understand it’s a part of life. Who knew you could achieve Zen through folk music? Touching on elements of folk, Americana, gospel, R&B, bluegrass and soul, the T Sisters weave evocative stories with a sound that is at once modern and timeless...
The sisters perform at on Sunday, January 31 at the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. The box office opens at 2:00p and the performance begins at 3:00pm and ends at 5:00pm.
The T Sisters are sassy. While there voices blend seamlessly, each has a distinct singing and writing style. Erika, the eldest sister, weaves a story with attitude and will belt it out with the confidence and style of a jazz diva. Rachel’s soulful and raw style is highlighted in her vintage blues inspired tunes. Chloe sings her heartfelt and poetic lyrics in a subtle country vibrato. The combination results in a very eclectic repertoire unified by a landscape of close harmonies.
The sisters are joined my Steve Height on upright bass and Andrew Allen Fahlander on mandolin.
