Scripted or Not . . . Writing for Non-Fiction Film and TV Special Full-Day Workshop Presented by Backcountry Pictures

Angels Camp, CA...Scripted or Not . . . Writing for Non-Fiction Film and TV Special Full-Day Workshop Presented by Backcountry Pictures. Manzanita Arts Emporium is the new home of Manzanita Writers Press, the Literary League of the Calaveras County Arts Council. MAE recently opened in November of 2015 in historic Angels Camp with a beautiful art gallery and workshop space. Join David Vassar and Sally Kaplan of Backcountry Pictures for a workshop on the basics of writing for non-fiction television and film. Participants will learn the following skill sets and more..





• Defining different styles of non-fiction film and television
• The importance of story and the written word
• The value of drama and humor and taking the story forward
• The art of the interview
• How to write a log line
• Scripted vs. non scripted formats and the use of papercuts

The workshop cost is $125 for the full day. Credit card registration is accepted by phone or online. Reserve your spot by Monday, January 25–space is limited. Refreshments and beverages will be provided. A continental breakfast will be served with fruit and rolls, yogurt, bagels and more. Lunch will be on your own, or join David and Sally at one of the local Angels Camp cafes. There are several lovely eateries within a few steps of the emporium. Manzanita Arts Emporium is a creative community center supporting visual, literary and performing arts.

Hours are 6 days per week from 10 am – 5 pm (closed on Tuesdays).
