Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park Recruits for Docent Class 2016

Pine Grove, CA...Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park is now accepting applications for new volunteers to be a part of the 2016 docent class. This year, the park is recruiting for 4th grade school tour leaders, public tour leaders, front desk at the visitor center, and assisting with special events. A docent is a volunteer who has completed a training program with the park which includes history lectures, park etiquette, tour techniques and park rules. The park depends on its volunteers to staff the visitor center, guide school and public tours and help with projects and events through the year. You can help by donating your time! Fully-trained docents are asked to commit to eight hours a month or 96 hours total within the year. Shifts vary depending on job duty and seasons.

The park is now accepting applications. Call or email the park office or stop in at the park to pick up an application. Training is scheduled in February on the 6th, 13th and 20th, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the park. If you are a motivated individual who is interested in helping one of our beloved local California State Parks fill out an application today!
