Saturday May 14th: The Dustbowl Revival
Bring Your Lampshades! Show starts at 7:30pm
Buy Tickets Now!

the dustbowl revival
Swing. Hot jazz. Pre-war blues. Bluegrass. Southern soul. New Orleans funk. The Dustbowl Revival is what you could call an American roots orchestra with eight full-time members — and they play it all, mashing the sounds of traditional American music into a genre-hopping, time-bending dance party that coaxes new fire out of familiar coal. This isn’t a throwback band. It’s a celebration of the sounds that have kept America moving for more than a century, performed with all the flair of a medicine show and rooted in the sweat and swagger of a juke joint song swap.

“Best Live Band in LA” - LA Weekly

“They’re a party in a box!” - Patrice O’Neill, Artistic Director, Wintergrass Music Festival

This Los Angeles-based band is definitely a "a party in a box", and they'll be a-rockin' our hilltop like you have never seen before. Kind of like last year's Leftover Cuties but on steroids.

And if you have a spare lampshade handy - seriously - bring it! - El Jefe

Sunday May 29th: Solas
Irish-American-Celtic superstars! Show starts at 7:45pm
Buy Tickets Now!

solas at twisted oak winery
2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of the quintessential Irish-American band, Solas. Formed in 1996, in a manner befitting their name (Gaelic for "light”), Solas burst onto the Irish music scene and instantly became a beacon – an incandescent ensemble that found contemporary relevance in timeless traditions. (I promise you, I didn't write this stuff. - El Jefe)

Anchored by founding members Seamus Egan (flute, tenor banjo, mandolin, whistles, guitars, bodhran) and Winifred Horan (violins, vocals), who form the backbone of the uniquely definable Solas sound, long time members Eamon McElholm (guitars, keyboards, vocals), and Mick McAuley (button accordion, vocals) and newest member, the dynamic Moira Smiley (vocals, banjo), Solas is musically at the top of their game and continues to be the standardbearer not only for great Irish music, but great music in any genre.

"The finest celtic ensemble this country has ever produced." - Boston Globe

One of our most popular shows in 2015 was the Acadian-Celtic trio Vishtèn, and if you liked Vishtèn you will love these folks! - El Jefe

Saturday June 11th: Sarah Jarosz
Your most requested artist returns! Show time 8:00pm

sarah jarosz at twisted oak winery
Sarah Jarosz has been making music for most of her life. Growing up in Wimberley, Texas, she began singing in early childhood. Receiving a mandolin for Christmas when she was nine years old, she worked tirelessly to master the instrument, and learned to play guitar and clawhammer banjo along the way. When she was 11, she performed at her first bluegrass festival; over the next few years, she gained an impressive reputation as a young phenom on the festival circuit, absorbing a world of traditional influences while honing her own highly original songwriting sensibility.

"From an early age, I've had a strong desire to create music," Jarosz states. "I was also fortunate to be surrounded by older, accomplished musicians who were my mentors. From the very beginning, all of my heroes looked out for me and challenged me in the best ways. It was great being raised in music that way. I always felt completely supported, and I think that that attitude affected the way I approach music now."

Sarah last graced our stage back in 2014, to much acclaim by all who attended. Don't miss your chance to see her this time around! (Photo by Maria Camillo from the 2014 show.) - El Jefe

Friday June 17th: James McMurtry
Singer. Songwriter. Rebel. Show time 8:00pm
Buy Tickets Now!

james mcmurtry
Let's get this out of the way right now. You might recognize the McMurtry name as belonging to the award-winning novelist and writer Larry, of Lonsesome Dove and Brokeback Mountain fame. Well, this isn't Larry, it's James. And while James never wanted to be a writer - “I wanted to be Johnny Cash from the minute I heard his voice” - he is every bit as talented a musician as his father is a talented writer.

McMurtry critically lauded first album Too Long in the Wasteland(1989) was produced by John Mellencamp and marked the beginning of a series of acclaimed projects for Columbia and Sugar Hill Records. In 1996, McMurtry received a Grammy nomination for Long Form Music Video for Where'd You Hide the Body. Additionally, It Had to Happen (1997) received the American Indie Award forBest Americana Album.

In 2004, McMurtry released the universally lauded Live in Aught-Three on Compadre Records. The following year, Childish Things notched arguably his most critical praise, spending six weeks at No. 1 on the Americana Music Radio Chart in 2005 and 2006. In September 2006, Childish Things and “We Can’t Make It Here” won the Americana Music Awards for Album and Song of the Year, respectively. McMurtry received more Americana Music Award nominations for 2008’s Just Us Kids. This album marked his highest Billboard 200 chart position in more than nearly two decades.

“James writes like he's lived a lifetime,” - John Mellencamp

Our winemaker Mark, who normally is a very reserved sort of guy, just about lost it when he heard James was going to be performing at Twisted Oak - Mark is a HUGE fan. If that isn't a ringing endorsement I don't know what is... - El Jefe

buckwheat zydeco
If you’ve gotten into Zydeco music, or felt its influence, or watched the world celebrate this great aspect of Louisiana culture over the past 30 years it’s likely been because of Buckwheat Zydeco. The band can claim the three largest selling Zydeco albums of all time. No other Zydeco artist has come close to selling as many records orexposing the music to more people around the world. Bringing the unique sound of Zydeco into the musical mainstream, Buckwheat Zydeco released the first-ever major label Zydeco album in 1987: Island Records’  “On A Night Like This.” In fact, Jimmy Fallon asked Buckwheat Zydeco to play that title tune with him and the Roots to kick off his final Late Night show before taking over the Tonight Show.

Over the course of Buckwheat Zydeco’s career, Buck has gigged with everyone from Eric Clapton (with whom Buckwheat also recorded) and U2 to The Boston Pops. The band performed at the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics to a worldwide audience of three billion people. More national television appearances include PBS’s tribute to Paul Simon, where Buck performed with Lyle Lovett; and sitting in with Paul on The Late Show With David Letterman (and playing “Hot Tamale Baby” for Martha Stewart). The band has appeared six times on Letterman, and on CNN, The Today Show, MTV, NBC News, CBS Morning News and many others.

If you liked the Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys show at Twisted Oak a couple years ago, then Buckwheat Zydeco is for you! - El Jefe
