An Update On The Ebbetts Pass Rock Slide...Thank You Caltrans! ~ From Alpine County Sheriff's Dept

Markleeville, CA...An update on the Ebbetts Pass Rockslide: First and foremost, our deepest thanks to our friends at CalTrans and specifically the actual blasters, Brees and Bickor. Great job gentlemen and thank you for the photos! Statistics: 5 days total of reductions, 3 of those days used explosives. They drilled 58 holes and used 33 pounds of explosives. Total estimated yardage of the slide is at 700 yards.

The biggest rock was estimated at 300 tons and took 17 pounds of explosives all by itself.
Impressive!

Next time you see a CalTrans worker, give them a wave and a thank you! They work very hard to keep our roadways safe and clear.
