West Point Teenager Succumbs To Shooting Accident Injuries
West Point, CA...On 04/20/16 at 3:40 PM, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area described as a quarry near the 1100 block of Bald Mountain Road in West Point for a male juvenile who had been shot. A 14 year old male and 16 year old male, both of West Point, were reportedly bird hunting in the area when the 16 year old allegedly accidentally shot the victim. The victim sustained injuries to his face and upper body. Fire personnel and paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to Mark Twain Hospital.
The victim later succumbed to his injuries. Sheriff Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. The 16 year old suspect was arrested for Discharge of a Firearm in a Grossly Negligent Manner (felony), and turned over to the custody of the Calaveras County Juvenile Probation Department. The Investigation into the incident is on-going.
