Calaveras Chamber of Commerce District One Candidates Night Full Video

San Andreas, CA...Tonight the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce held the first of two Candidates Nights for candidates in the races for contested seats. The District One contestants met this evening at the San Andreas Town Hall and answered questions across the spectrum from economic development, marijuana, general plan & more. Incumbent Cliff Edson, challengers Sharon Romano & former Supervisor Gary Tofanelli are battling for the honor to serve the next four years.

By national standards our races have been almost placid but underneath the surface there have been some elbows thrown and normal election year battles over campaign signs etc. It will be interesting to see how the primary vote totals in June tally. Will any of the three be able to get over 50% and prevent the race to head to November or will the two conservative leaning candidates Edson & Tofanelli and the liberal leaning Romano split the vote and we head to November.

The next Chamber Candidates night will be on May 11th in Copperopolis at Saddle Creek for the District Four candidates.

Lots of issues face the county in the next few years and may the best man or woman win.
