Two Perish After Falling Into Mokelumne River
Jackson, CA...This afternoon around 2:30pm, the Amador County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call saying that two people had fallen into the Mokelumne River near Moore Creek Campground and were swept down river. Their Swiftwater and Search and Rescue teams were called out. PG&E lowered the river flow and a CHP helicopter helped in the search. Both of the people have been found. Unfortunately neither survived. Staff are working to recover them. We will not be identifying them until their next of kin are notified.
