Jack Byron Conklin 1932 - 2016

Hathaway Pines, CA...Jack Byron Conklin, a resident of Hathaway Pines passed away on June 2, 2016. He was born in Craig, Nebraska on November 27, 1932 to Stella and Carl Conklin, he was the fourth of nine children. Jack was proud to serve in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, after which he worked at Auto Lite Battery Company in Oakland. He moved his family to Irvington in 1955 and then moved to Hathaway Pines in 1972. He retired as head custodian at Hazel Fischer School at Arnold in 1995. Upon retiring he moved to Wise River, Montana which was a lifelong dream. Jack moved back to California in 2008.

Dad

Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching any sports on TV, especially his beloved Nebraska Corn Huskers and San Francisco Giants. He put the needs of family first, sometimes working two jobs. He was actively involved in coaching youth baseball at FNYB in Fremont when his sons were young. He loved Alaska and made trips there almost every summer after retirement. He made numerous trips to Nebraska and Missouri to visit family. He always had a smile on his face, a contagious laughter, full of wonderful stories, and unconditional love for everyone. He made everyone feel special, he did not know a stranger. From the moment he met you, you were his friend for life. He created wonderful memories for his grandchildren, spoiling them all equally.

He is survived by his three children, Mary Lang (Andy), Linda Thomason (Keith), Robert Conklin, four grandchildren Brian Erb, Candy Quadrato (Andy), Marty Lang, Brandon Lang (Shannon ) and six great-grandchildren, Hillary, Graceynn, Jacob, Jerrod, Jack, Henry. He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Wes Conklin (Arlene), Lila Maslonka (George) and Donna Ranta and brother-in-law Mickey Schwoerer plus numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded into heaven by his daughter Kathryn Erb and son John Conklin, his brothers Dwayne, Doug, Don and sisters Bev Tramner and Evelyn Potter.

He was buried at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine on June 9, 2016
