DUI Checkpoint Going On Now In San Andreas
San Andreas, CA...On Monday July 4, 2016, the California Highway Patrol San Andreas office will be conducting a Sobriety/Driver License Checkpoint. The purpose of the checkpoint is to detect and deter DUI/unlicensed drivers. The checkpoint will be staffed by officers of the California Highway Patrol that are trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug impaired drivers. CHP Drug Recognition Experts, certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will be on site to provide on the spot assessments of drivers suspected of drug use. The officers will also be equipped with hand held breath testing devices which provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration of those suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles, regardless of type, will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can be expected to be arrested and booked into the county jail.
NOTE: The checkpoint will be operated in the San Andreas area from 6:30 pm – 12:30 am. The location of the checkpoint will be Northbound State Route 49, south of Treats Avenue in the town of San Andreas.
