Major Injuries To Berkeley & Oakland Men & Charges For Driver In DUI Rollover ATV Collision

Sheep Ranch, CA...An 18 year old Berkeley man was driving his 2011 Polaris Ranger vehicle westbound on a private driveway approaching Sheep Ranch Road and an undetermined rate of speed. He allowed the vehicle to travel off of the gravel driveway and on the north shoulder. As he was attempting to get the vehicle back onto the driveway he lost control and the vehicle rolled over onto its side ejecting both the driver and the passenger.

As a result of the Collision both occupants sustained major injuries. The driver was flown via air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center and the passenger was flown via air ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI resulting in major injuries to another person.

With luck they will miss the harvest.

One assumes you were never 18, or perhaps can't remember having some fun. I'm sure those quality young men don't know what a "harvest" is. One only hopes you don't have children. After all, it takes a man to reproduce. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!!

Agreed! Neither boys were here for the harvest. Two young friends/family members doing what most boys do that unfortunately resulted in this horrible accident. Being a local resident, they were only doing what almost every teenager boy does "having old fashion fun" .....mind you stealing nor breaking into a residence is listed as a part of this situation "which obviously in this county has become the norm". I am sure there are families who still have old fashion fun here in Calaveras, they just don't always result in bad luck.

Anyone can reproduce, takes a man to raise a family.

A man also teaches common sense, responsibility, and restraint.

      Something you know nothing about.

        oh shut the fu#k up
if you have to write about it or brag about it
it means you failed at it. Quit acting like you're
something special. Millions and millions of people have raised kids just fine, and they don't brag about poop.....well except you.

Every 18 year old knows about harvest in this county.

      Thanks board of scumbags.

Flat Landers stay home! Do you realize what little economy we have in this county, pretty much revolves around tourism? Those "flat landers" come here with full wallets and stay in hotels, eat at local restaurants and drink local wine. Can they be a pain? Yes. Can they be rude? Yes, but without them coming to visit our struggling economy would all but be dead. Which means even fewer of us could afford to live, were many of us grew up. Just something to think about, when your turning away money.

So, let's assess this situation. The driver and passenger are both 18 and drunk and not wearing seatbelts. Fortunately they only hurt themselves and no innocent motorist. The driver should have his license revoked and spend time in jail if he ever gets released from the hospital.

Good point. And also, how did 2 19 yr olds get a drug that is intended for folks over 21?
        Something's rotten in Denmark.

And people wonder why Calaveras county is the way it is... Seems quite apparent in the tones and attitudes of the posts here. Sad. Ignorant. Hateful. Spiteful. Unkind. Lacking compassion and empathy. Look in the mirror, people.

Do better for your own county. It all begins at 'home' and radiates outward.
