Copperopolis Fire Protection District Selects New Administrative Officer

Copperopolis, CA...The Copperopolis Fire Protection District is pleased to announce the selection of Joel Schwartz as its new Administrative Officer. Joel was selected from a field of candidates recruited from across California in a recruitment process that took several weeks. After an initial screening interview Joel was interviewed by the board and was its unanimous selection to fill this all-important job.

As Administrative Officer, Joel will be responsible for all administrative aspects of the Fire District
including human resource management, staff development, financial management, insurance,
compensation, public relations, compliance, policies & procedures, file maintenance, and grant research
and application.

Joel was born in Brooklyn, New York, where he also majored in English at Queen’s College. He and his
wife of 36 years, Kathie, moved to Copperopolis is 2009 where they immediately became very active in
the local and county communities. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Copperopolis Community
Center as well as the Columbia College Foster Youth Advisory Committee. He is an active member of the
Copperopolis Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) where he serves as Quartermaster for
Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties.

Joel will be working as a part-time employee in this “non-benefited” position which pays an annual
salary of $35,000.
