Sierra Repertory Theatre & Mind Matters Presents "A Christmas Story"

Sonora, CA...Mind Matters, the Murphys based non-profit clinic that treats autism and other related learning disorders, is taking over the East Sonora Theatre on Thursday, November 10, for a special preview performance of the Sierra Repertory Theatre production of A Christmas Story. All proceeds will go to help the clinic provide services to families throughout the tri-county area. The theatre, scene of many of the most popular productions in the Motherlode, is located at 13891 Mono Way.

Based on the 1983 movie that has become a holiday classic, the play follows young Ralphie Parker’s quest for a genuine Red Ryder BB Gun, even though his mother, teacher, and Santa are horrified “You’ll shoot your eye out.” In his journey he confronts a bully, does battle with a frozen flagpole, encounters a fishnet stockinged leg lamp, and endures other adventures. It is a play designed to get the audience in a holiday spirit with a funny and warm story of a young man’s determination to have his Christmas wish come true.
The Mind Matters performance will be presented in a festive environment with a free glass of wine or cider along with hors d’oeuvres being offered in the theater patio starting a 6 p.m. Showtime is 7 p.m. During intermission coffee and cookies will be served.
There will also be a raffle featuring a variety of show-related items including the infamous leg lamp and a Red Rider Rifle wall décor.
Early Bird tickets purchased by October 6 are $25 per person. After that date the cost is $30. There will be open seating. Anyone wishing to attend should call the clinic at 728-2184 or visit the website mindmattersclinic.org.
All the costs associated with the event have been underwritten by members of the Mind Matters board of directors so that the total amount of money raised will go directly to providing clinic services.
Mind Matters exists to help individuals and families cope with the consequences of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Learning Disabilities. The clinic does it through treatment, counseling, and education. It also strives to promote a better public understanding of these debilitating health issues. Mind Matters is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations to help extend its services are always welcome.

Event occurs on 11/10/2016 from 06:00 PM to .
