Strange Times At CCWD Meeting As Director Strange Offers To Step Down As Board President!

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors called a special meeting on Thursday October 6, 2016, to discuss notification of Director Terry Strange’s applications with Calaveras County to cultivate cannabis.

The other four members of the Board expressed their strong disappointment at Director Strange’s failure to inform the Board of his cannabis related activities prior to disclosure by the press on September 29, 2016 – one day after the Board’s workshop on cannabis cultivation.

District General Counsel Matt Weber informed the Board that he has reviewed the issue of potential conflicts of interest and found there are no actual conflicts at this time. However, in an abundance of caution and to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest, Mr. Weber advised that Director Strange should recuse himself from any District business concerning cannabis cultivation or federal matters.

Director Strange expressed regret for not informing the Board earlier and said he will work to regain the trust of the Board. He offered to step down as Board president and to relinquish his position on the CCWD Legal Affairs Committee. The Board directed staff to place an item on the agenda at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting – Wednesday October 12, 2016 – to discuss how to proceed with the Board president position and committee assignments through the end of the year.

The District will make no further comments on these issues at this time.

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain

No one remembers your name

Can we all say ethics & creditability

Director Strange needs to resign, its a serious creditability problem for the CCWD Board and a serious ethics problem for Director Strange. His denial of the same accusations in the form of a letter to the Board last December as well as the conducting a CCWD workshop on Cannabis & Water while withholding his position as a multiple crop grower renders his integrity to tarnished to continue as a CCWD Director. His pathetic excuses yesterday for his behavior were all inexcusable. The CCWD Board needs to take action here -- we elect these people to make the hard decisions -- now make one.

The type of behavior and excuses that Director Strange exhibited on this issue yesterday are all part of who he is -- he is a dishonest person and his behavior is predictable -- it will surface again. . . I am a resident and rate-payer in Directors Strange's District and I look forward to his immediate resignation!

Maybe they will raise the rates again. What have they done with the revenue from the rate increases.

Typical lib, lie and cheat at everyone expenses, pocket all the dollars available than deny! didn't understand the problem with what he was doing. We the sucker ratepayer's are paying for his salary and healthcare benefits - while he dishonestly grows his fortune in pot! I guess CCWD Directors are " TO Big TO Fail"

If they had been reading the legal notices of the fictitious business name statements listed in the local newspapers they would have known this a long time ago. Part of the job should be to keep up on what is going on in the county.

he is betraying the rate payers in his district. He needs to be fired immediately. Or will this board sell out just as our BOS has. Probably.

bottom line. he is breaking federal law. No board member should be allowed to stay when breaking federal law. I mean, how simple is that?

Granted we live in a country where laws are no longer of any consequence, but growing marijuana is illegal on a federal standpoint. So a municipality employee should not be allowed to openly break the law.
So until our federal government catches up with the states laws, If its that important, quit the government job.
