Two Taken Into Custody After Confrontation On Big Hill Goes Awry

Sonora, CA...Two people are in custody after a home invasion yesterday at a residence on Four Wheel Drive Sonora in the Big Hill area. Tuesday morning at about 6:30 AM, a resident on Quail Mine Road called the Sheriff’s Office and reported a woman was at his door yelling that she had been beat up and threatened with a gun. The resident called 911 and waited for deputies to arrive. Deputies responded and while enroute noticed an unoccupied pickup truck in a ditch in the area of Big Hill Rd and Sawmill Flat. It was later determined that the truck belonged to 44 year old Donald Davis.

Deputies arrived at the home where they found the woman who had injuries to her face. The woman was identified as 32 year old Brandy Behr. Behr originally told the deputies she was assaulted and threatened with a firearm by the homeowner on Four Wheel Drive in Sonora. Behr was transported by ambulance to the Sonora Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries while Detectives investigated the incident.

During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office received another call from a resident in the area of Sawmill Flat Road reporting they found Donald Davis on their porch. Deputies responded and talked to Davis. He told deputies he knew Behr. Davis said Behr had stolen guns and asked him to drive her to the home on Four Wheel Drive Road. He said after Behr went inside he heard a fight and fled in his truck. Davis said he got his truck stuck in a ditch and walked to a neighboring house. Deputies went to the truck and located an AR-15 rifle inside.

Deputies responded to the home where Davis had dropped off Behr. They found that the front of the home had numerous bullet holes. The homeowner and 3 other occupants at the home were interviewed and told deputies Behr showed up at the home early in the morning wearing a wig and armed with a pistol. Behr went into a bedroom and confronted a woman who was asleep in bed. Behr pointed the pistol in the woman's face and according to the woman, began trying to fire the gun but it was jammed. The homeowner heard the commotion and came in the room. He noticed the pistol was "locked back" and Behr appeared to be trying to fix the jam. He and the others in the home were able to get the pistol away from Behr and throw her out of the house. Behr fled on foot. The residents heard numerous gunshots outside and heard bullets striking the home. Thankfully no one was struck or injured by the gunfire.

Davis was taken to the Sheriff's Office where he admitted to Detectives that he and Behr had gone to the house to confront a resident there. He and Behr planned that when she went in, he would remain outside. He said if things went bad, he would begin to shoot the rifle into the house. Davis told Detectives that after Behr was inside he heard a commotion and a "bang". At that time he began firing numerous bullets into the front of the home and then fled the area in his truck.

During this investigation, Behr had walked away from SRMC. She was later located and taken to the Sheriff's Office to talk to Detectives. She admitted to burglarizing a home on Berry Lane in Sonora where she took the AR-15 and pistol. She also admitted that she and Davis armed themselves with the stolen weapons in order to go to the home to confront a woman. Behr said after she was inside the bedroom, a fight ensued where the pistol was taken from her and she was beat up and then fled on foot.

Both Behr and Davis were arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail on numerous felony charges including conspiracy, attempted homicide, home invasion, firing a weapon into an occupied dwelling, felon in possession of a firearm, burglary and committing a felony while in possession of an assault rifle.
