ACPD Seeking Public's Help In Solving Auto Burglaries & Vandalism Case

Angels Camp, CA...On 01/17/16, at approximately 6:35 PM, officers were dispatched to a report of two window smash auto burglaries on the 1200 block of S. Main Street. In both cases the vehicles had windows smashed out and purses removed. Other items of value, including a cell phone and an iPad were left behind in one of the vehicles, indicating that the suspect(s) were in a hurry and specifically looking for items known to contain valuables. There are some investigative leads that are being followed, including possible video surveillance footage.

Of interest in this case is that just prior to the report of the auto burglaries being dispatched, officers were dispatched to a report of a man assaulting a woman at an address on Bird's Way, which is in very close proximity to the location where the auto burglaries occurred. Officers arriving on scene on Bird's Way determined that the assault report was unfounded, and may have been falsely reported as a diversion.

The Angels Camp Police Department is asking for the public's assistance, and anyone with information related to this case can call 209-754-6500 or 209-736-2567 and ask to speak with an officer. The police department would also like to remind people to remove items of value from your vehicle if at all possible.
