Highway Closure From Higdon Road To North Fork Mokelumne Bridge
Calaveras County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed eastbound and westbound State Route 26 (SR-26) from Higdon Road to the North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge, just west of West Point, for road repairs due to storm damage.
The full highway closure will continue as repairs are being made with an estimated date for opening in early April, 2017. Inclement weather and cold temperatures may be contributing factors in completing this work.
Motorists should expect up to 60-minute delays as they seek alternate routes. Detour information is as follows:
Eastbound detour – take northbound SR-49 to eastbound SR-88
Westbound detour – take SR-88 to southbound SR-49 to SR-26
This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials and construction related issues.
