Update On Missing or Overdue Aircraft and Pilot.
San Andreas, CA...Last Night's update on missing pilot. "Today around 35 Searchers from agencies including the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office performed an extensive search in an area east of Mountain Ranch. Searchers reported slow progress due to terrain and heavy brush as you can see in the attached photo's. One photo is of the mobile command unit with views of the area to be searched and the other is a still shot photo of the mountainous terrain.
In addition to searching from the ground, the California National Guard provided two helicopters used for transporting teams to their search areas and to provide aerial searching for missing Pilot Leroy Del Don Jr. and his aircraft.
The Civil Air Patrol also conducted a search of the immediate and outlying area using imaging and direction finding equipment.
Despite the massive search effort, no clues regarding the location of the missing airplane or its pilot were discovered.
The search will resume in the morning, however, many searchers are remaining on site throughout the night.
