Celebration of Life for Mokelumne Hill's Laura Jane Canty (1946-2017) on July 15th

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Laura Jane Canty was born December 18, 1946, and passed away July 2, 2017. She was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, and traveled out to San Francisco in 1970. Jane first lived in Capitola and in 1977 moved to Mokelumne Hill where she worked for many years at the Hotel Leger. In 1989, Jane and her husband Ron Pitner started The Greenery Landscaping Company which is still in operation. Jane, Ron, and daughter Ashely were also owners of the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill from 2002-2013.

Jane was a beautiful landscape designer, had the most amazing green thumb and the most generous smile and laugh. She was a large part of the community of Mokelumne Hill and Calaveras County. Jane fought cancer to stay with us as long as she could and to meet her first grandchild. Surrounded by many friends and family, she is missed by all. We were lucky to have her in our lives!

Jane is survived by her husband Ron Pitner, her children Ashley Canty (Chris Petrin) and Shawn Pitner (Jenny), her grandaughter Harlow Jayne Petrin, and her brother Ricky Gehweiler (Cheryl). A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 15, noon, at the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill. For information call Joyce Peek (286-1733) or Brenda Brown (283-0015). Potluck, deserts welcome.
