Stolen Property Recovered and "Mystery Man" Booked! By John Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...Some Vallecito Residents will be getting their property back soon thanks to the Calaveras County Sheriffs Department. The suspect is in jail now for possession of stolen property with more charges to follow. Deputy Robert Huffman apprehended the suspect at approximately 7:30am this morning. The robbery occurred yesterday afternoon. The residents were away for a couple of hours and returned home to evidence of a burglary....

The homeowner had seen a male that didn't seem to fit the area earlier in the day.

The stolen property consisted of various jewelry and antique coins some of which dated back to the 1920's. Also taken were some items of sentimental value including a locket with pictures of the victims relatives.

So far it seems that this is just another minor burglary with a happy ending. It does have some interesting twists however. The victim had absolutely no identification on him. He told the officers that he was just traveling to the end of Hwy 4. When asked for his identity he provided conflicting answers and initially said he was from Tennessee but he could also be from Modesto.

The only things he had in his possession other than the recovered property was some lip balm and a couple of cigarette lighters. He was found wondering along Hwy 4. Pending his identification the only thing known for certain is that the suspect will have a long walk home.
