Tell oliveira to get on board and ban pot... maybe he should also see to it that the roads are repaired in his district. I'd be ashamed to go in public if I were him.

Yes. Fix the washed out bridge on Murphys Drive, which connects Moran Road to my whole neighborhood. It has been out since mid-winter and there are no signs of anyone working on it.

We do have a possible detour through Pine Brook but those roads are narrow and in poor repair.

I'm a republican and also on food stamps. $30 can be a lot for a meal. If If If I'm short on cash I usually just offer hand jobs to the gentlemen down at the country club. It's good honest work and sometimes a man needs a strong hand.

It would be interesting to see where our tax dollars go. It's not to our road department. Our roads were always maintaining the past. The folks in charge of our roads should be fired and replaced by someone who cares

I wrote something further down that may influence your thoughts. It may be Public Works could do a better job sharing their schedule so that people don't second guess and wonder if their road(s) will ever be addressed.

Supervisor Oliveira
Posted on: 2017-08-08 07:05:24   By: Anonymous

I wrote a letter to Supervisor Oliveira a month ago detailing the deteriorating conditions of our road and a collapsed culvert. As yet, no response - not even a quick email saying it was received. I filled out an online form for our county Public Works department sharing the same and a rep responded to me within a few minutes. Told me what was planned and approximate time frame the work will take place. Not impressed with our supe but wanted to share that our road dept is accessible and doing their job as they can.

For the record, the person that responded by telephone was Mr. Anderson.

Hi scott! Nice to see you're responding! Don't bother because we know it's you and you don't do your job. You don't care.

I wrote the first comment above about repairs to my road - Sheep Ranch Road. It was Scott Anderson that responded and within minutes. Please stop hijacking this forum with nonsense.

Prop 13 should be overturned. I'm tired of paying much higher property taxes than all the deadbeats who pay next to nothing because they are too shiftless to ever move to a new house.

Prop 13 is a welfare program for people whose only accomplishment is to live in one place forever.

You are jealous and hate old people.
It's called roots and it is what keeps a community going. The idiots that move all the time contribute nothing.

I am an old person, but I have lived elsewhere for much of my life. Now I come to retire in Calaveras County and you charge me property taxes that are 3 or 4 times what my neighbors in similar houses are paying. That is just wrong.

It makes no sense to have a welfare program that helps people who don't move. Not moving does not define a needy group that deserves welfare. And these are big welfare costs. The difference between my annual tax bill and many of my neighbor's is $4,000 or $5,000. Every year!

Lot's of people are whining about an annual $130 "fire tax" and yet are happy to benefit from a welfare program that reduces their property tax by $4,000/year.

It is time to abolish Prop 13. Taxes should not be allowed to drive old folks from their home, but Prop 13 is a blunt instrument that doles out that particular welfare benefit to people who need and deserve it, and to those who do not. I am tired of subsidizing my neighbors whose only disability is that they don't move to a different home.

Agreed, prop 13 no long makes sense but to call those who choose to stay put shiftless or non-contributors is not right either. Nevertheless, some kind of better balance is in order. It's also a reason why the recovery is not reaching us - too many in the Bay area don't want to start over and pay the highest tax rate.

OK. This is a more adult response than mine. Hat's off to you for remaining respectful even while anonymous.
