Moke Hill Woman Running for District 2 Planning Commissioner Position ~ By Bethany Monk

San Andreas, C.A....Fawn McLaughlin, founder and owner of F.J. McLaughlin & Associates, is applying for the Supervisorial District 2 Planning Commissioner position. McLaughlin, a Mokelumne Hill resident, has 20 years experience in economic development from managing her own practice, she writes in her application to....

the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors dated Jan. 23, 2008.

"My academic and experiential credentials are an excellent resource to draw from for this experience," she states in response to the application's question regarding her background."I have assisted many communities with planning and economic development projects."

McLaughlin holds a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California State University, Fresno, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of California at Davis.

Before founding F.J. McLaughlin & Associates in 1989, McLaughlin served as program manager with the San Francisco Economic Development Corporation. While holding this position, she assisted with the design and development of the corporation's strategic plan and and program development activities. She also served as the first executive director of the Stanislaus County Economic Development Corporation, a position she held from 1985 to 1989.

"Calaveras is a unique place to live with wonderful assets, especially the people who live here," she writes in her application. "Through this position, I hope to adequately represent their wishes as the county grows."

The Board of Supervisors will discuss and take action to appoint applicants to the various board committees and commissions during its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
