San Andreas Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder

San Andreas, CA..On 10-28-2017 at approx. 5:40pm, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1330 Calaveritas Road in San Andreas, the Oak Shadows Mobile Home Park, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival deputies learned that there was a domestic dispute between a 50 year old man and the alleged suspect, Carol Soares (age 66), both of whom live at the mobile home park.





Witnesses reported hearing an argument prior to the single gunshot. Sheriff’s detectives learned that Soares allegedly shot the victim through a doorway as he was standing outside Soares’ mobile home. The victim sustained minor injuries to his face, and later sought treatment at a local hospital on his own. The two were allegedly arguing over a vehicle prior to the gunshot.

Carol Soares was arrested for attempted murder - 664/187(a) PC and inflicting corporal injury – 273.5 PC, and was booked into the Calaveras County Jail. Her bail was set at two million dollars . No further information is available at this time.

    So now you think the DA is the judge, jury, and firing squad? In America the Judge decides the sentencing. Next week maybe we can blame those liberal court stenographers, or those radical bailiffs.

      I think the DA decides exactly what charges to pursue, whether to plea bargain, and what sentence to recommend. That has a lot of influence on time served. If the DA doesn't play hard ball, the case may never go to a jury and the judge might be presented with a plea deal he doesn't have enough information to reject.

      We don't get enough information on the deals the DA makes. For example, it is unlikely we'll get a story on the disposition of this case.
