The White House on Senate Passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act & Senate Press Conference

Washington, DC...President Donald J. Trump applauds the Senate for passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The Senators who voted for these historic tax cuts did a great service to their constituents as they supported putting America first, growing the economy, and rebuilding our great country.

The policies in this bill will cut taxes for hardworking families and put our economy on a path of sustainable economic prosperity and job creation. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reclaim America’s great destiny. The Administration looks forward to working with Congress to fulfill the promise we made to deliver historic tax cuts for the American people by the end of the year.

That does it, I'm moving to Russia. All President Trump wants to do is take my money and give it to the rich guys! I think if Pelosi were president at least we would have access to affordable cosmetic surgery. Right after the Super Bowl (where I will be kneeling throughout the game) I'm heading to Siberia where there is real freedom. Adios MF!

GOP Sacrifices the 99% For The 1%
Posted on: 2017-12-02 08:44:14   By: Anonymous

There was no need for this bill to begin with.
80% of corporation CEOs say that the tax savings will go to the stock holders, or to them, and not create any new jobs. A provision in the bill actually promotes the moving of facilities and jobs abroad.
The facts are the economy is doing well with the quantitative easing policy of the Fed. This was a huge windfall for the corporations , which instigated stock buy backs which raised their stock prices and gave us record stock market highs, albeit all thru manipulation, not by true markets.
The corporations soaked with record profits, and their use of off shoring accounting did not need a tax cut, they pay little to no taxes already.
What were the tax cuts about? As a few Republicans in Congress admitted, "If we don't give the $Billionaires tax cuts, they will stop donating to us." This is only a tax payer give away to those who don't need it. The middle class and poor will have their taxes raised so the already fabulously rich can be even more rich.
By all accounts except from the lying Republicans, the middle class and poor will be the losers in this tax cut disaster. It raises the debt, and will cause a recession, if not worse, as when the majority have less to spend, the economy slows.
The loss of deductions the middle class has depended on to be on any sense of par with the wealthy are gone. The loss of property tax deductions and other home buying deductions will crash the real estate market, which is a large part of the US economy.

What we are seeing is the sociopathic greed of the 1%, they will make $ either way, whether the economy stays the same, which is doubtful according to most economists, or a near certain down turn, the depths of which are unknown.
People will die, as health care subsidies are severely cut , one provision will deny chemo to Medicare recipients, for an example. Already the CHIP program for children is already cut. Children will die, no exaggeration.

Meanwhile passed was a $700 Billion increase to the military budget as bloated as it is already.

The Republicans stole the 2016 election and now is giving America, it's majority the middle finger, all for the 150 Billionaire donors that are the true owners now of America.

Unless we protest as never before, we will have our futures stolen for the few.

Well that's what you deserve for not making smart choices in life. Some of us work and we invest wisely, and some of work for others because their education (I never attended college and became very successful) and their desire, limits them. The rich, we are the ones creating jobs. Do you think the middle class and the poor create jobs and stimulate the economy? It's a very simple answer, No. Absolutely NOT. You can either pick the grapes, or you can grow them. I've done both.
The choice is yours, or the way you sound, it was yours and you took the other way, the simpleton way, you work for someone else who put in the long hours to become successful. It's appreciated, especially on the rare occasion when I find a hard, dedicated worker, and that person will be rewarded nicely, but without the rich, you'd be jobless, wouldn't you?
Latest case in point, my hat's off to the growers in the medical marijuana industry in Calaveras County. They took the hard way, to try to start a risky business in this county, possibly staking all of their savings in this opportunity, if one doesn't try, one shouldn't have the right to complain. Just like if ones does not vote, one should not have the right to complain about politics.
Many business fail, that's the risk of success. In the beginning of every successful business person was/is the working hours. It's part time work for many of us, only 12 to 14 hours a day. A good partner was the key to my success besides the hard work, the desire, the dedication, and the person by my side through thick and thin, she's my wife.
Many businesses have moved from this state and this country because the politicians have taken such a huge bite of the profits through taxes. These are businesses that hire hundreds, if not thousands of people. Our Government should do everything in their powers to bring these businesses back to the US, this will keep the US economy strong and not depend on other countries. Taxing the 100's of thousands of workers that will be employed, don't tax the rich excessively who create jobs for the American people. Doing exactly that has made the rich flee Ca. and/or flee the US.

There are many hardworking people who will be hurt by this tax bill - not just the lazy as you seem to think. For starters, this may spell doom for local realtors along the route 4 corridor - a large amount of their sales being for vacation and second homes. What do you think is going to happen to that market when a cap is put on what one can deduct (and certainly not for a second home). If you are, in fact, a successful business owner - whether large or small, you have also just kissed your ability to deduct operating expenses like stationery, stamps, products and more. Same goes for the teachers who purchase so much for their classrooms out of their own pockets. Seniors on Medicare will no longer have cancer coverage - perhaps something that might affect you or a loved one. My portfolio is going to do just fine, thank you, and there's probably a few more months of great gains to be made in the stock market but, truly, how many local, HARD WORKING people do you think will benefit? This is a money grab for the truly wealthy and corporations pushed with no one having a chance to read in full.

That's a tired old mantra that's been disproved many times by economists. The rich do not "trickle down" their wealth significantly but instead channel it to more consumption for selves and place their money elsewhere. And for the record we don't call ourselves rich or wealthy but, rather, comfortable. Only insecure people elevate themselves with such grandiosity, especially those lacking in other areas like education and critical thinking.

Are you completely out of touch? Some people are rich because they worked hard, took risks, were in the right business at the right time, were super smart, etc. But most really rich people (let's say > $250 million net worth) inherited their wealth. Or at least the nucleus of their fortune which provided them with a huge advantage over everyone else. That's true of Donald Trump (and certainly true of his kids), the Koch brothers, Betsy DeVos (mis-Education Secretary), the current Waltons (Walmart), all the Rockefellers and Kennedys we've known in our life times, and most others now whining about how much tax they pay.

If you really favored a country where initiative and risk taking were rewarded, you'd support keeping an estate tax so that the children of the super rich had some requirement to succeed on their own rather than just being the next generation of a dynasty.

And BTW I had teachers in high school school and before who were not highly paid or rich but who gave me an education that allowed me to be very successful. Those non-rich people and others like them have done much more for the US and its citizens than any rich person you can name. I'll bet they've done a lot more genuine good than you have done too.

We need to use our voting power come 2018. If we threaten ouster for anyone who votes for a bill that is not 'fixed', then come 2018 we can hopefully get representation in place that can fix what was put in place.

Tidbit: In 2005, without the AMT, Trump would have paid ZERO taxes on ~$153M in income. Because of the AMT, he ended up paying on 3.9% in Federal income taxes. This is why he wants it to go away. Thank goodness there was one holdout GOP Senator who demanded at least a watered-down version of the AMT in order to get his support for the Senator committee version.

And thank goodness the Maine GOP Senator held out for reinstatement of some mortgage interest deduction. At least there are some GOP holdouts looking out for small business, and middle and lower income families.

The rich? It doesn't make any difference. They don't pay taxes now because they use loopholes to get around payment. They can have a tax rate of 50% and probably still only pay what is required under the AMT rules.

Corporations? Same thing. They can have a tax rate of 35% but in actuality are currently only paying around 20%. When their rate is reduced to 20%, estimates are they'll pay around 10%. And, like when this strategy was used previously in the 1970s, the extra money went to executive bonuses and stockholders, not additional jobs or expansions in the US or raises for the workers.

This bill is an extreme perversion of the legislative process.
All the attempts for legislation that failed this year are now in this one bill.
This bill goes beyond any perversion in history of the legislative process.
No hearings, scoring by all congressional offices, no time for public comment.

This extreme perversion of the legislative process shows the loss of our Democracy at the hands of the Republicans. Plutocracy.

If you don't meet the income threshold , you get MediCal in Ca. Then with higher income tiers you do pay for premiums.

So you prefer to let people die, or become indigent because of inability to pay for medical care, which is free in all industrialized countries but the US.

With the inability to claim deductions as in the past, I fully suspect many small business owners will not be hiring more and perhaps even laying off. It's not like the larger companies are going to build a factory here in Calaveras. This tax bill is a bad thing on many fronts for this area.

It is obvious that none of you nay sayers have read this tax bill. You just automatically assume that because it's from Trump it's bad!! Too bad for you..... I have read it and it takes care of all. I am a small business owner and I have been killed with taxes under the Obama administration and now I am forced to pay for Obamacare which is 3 times more money then the insurance I had before!! It's about time the middle class has some hope. Suck it up and stop whining!!!!!!

I am not sure why Trump and his Republicans are applauding the passage of this tax bill since it is not actually passed. Now this Senate version must be blended with the House version then that final version will have to be approved by both groups. With a 51-49 approval it could be likely that a few will switch and vote against the final bill.
