Bear Valley Cross Country Trail System, Tubing & More Open This Weekend

Bear Valley, CA...Paul Says: Fri., Feb. 2nd at 7:30pm: The trail system reopens for this weekend today, Saturday and hopefully Sunday with a selection of groomed meadow trails. Stables Cruise, Biathlon and Orvis Meadow have decent conditions. The Secret Meadow (Bloods Creek area) is also good. Plan on some thin sections here and there. With the temps in record territory, these trails will not last long. Come on up and get it while you can. THE GROOMED CROSS COUNTRY TRAIL SYSTEM IS OPEN FOR XC SKIING AND SNOWSHOEING TODAY 2/2, SATURDAY 2/3 AND (HOPEFULLY) SUNDAY 2/4. The Tubing and Sledding Areas are Open from 9am to 4pm for 2 hour sessions (last session goes out at 2pm).

Bear Valley lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 38 trails carefully groomed for track and skate skiing and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids' ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status among Sierra cross country centers. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily. Bear Valley Cross Country is the Tahoe Alternative.

Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. Nearby Bear Valley Mountain, one of California's finest mid-sized snow sport destinations, has all the amenities you come to expect at a modern area including 9 lifts and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of super scenic runs.

The Cross Country Center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley's summer adventures.

We have 125 pairs of new XC skis in stock, our service department is open and the new winter clothing and gift items are looking great. Please stay in touch, come shop our sale and remain excited for a wonderful winter of fun!
