Mind Matters Named Best Non-Profit By Chamber of Commerce

Murphys, CA...Mind Matters, the Murphys based nonprofit clinic that helps individuals and families cope with the consequences of autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities, has been named 2017 Nonprofit of the Year by the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce. This is the second time that the clinic has received this award. “It is very gratifying to know that all that we are doing to serve our clients is recognized,” states Dr. Ryan Thompson, the founder of Mind Matters and its Medical Director. “It is all made possible by a dedicated Board of Directors, a talented and hard working staff, and Executive Director Trudy Lackey who leads with daily perseverance and passion.”

Mind Matters named Chamber’s Nonprofit of the Year: Left to right – Dr. David Simons, Clinical Psychologist, Trudy Lackey, Executive Director, Dr. Ryan Thompson, Founder and Medical Director, Cheri Tichenor, Educational Services Coordinator.

Each year, the Chamber awards outstanding members of the community based on their contribution to building the economic vitality, prosperity and quality of life in Calaveras County.  The winners are announced and presented with their awards at the Chamber's annual dinner.

“Over the past year Mind Matters has served 289 clients from Calaveras and surrounding counties,” said Lackey in the award application. “At least 27% have multiple diagnoses, 43% have ADD/ADHD, 22% have autism spectrum disorder [ASD], and 20% have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. With a professional staff that includes a medical doctor, clinical psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist [MFT], Licensed Clinical Social Worker [LCSW], educational coordinator overseeing a variety of educational programs in the schools, at the clinic, and home-based, we are a comprehensive place for services, treatments, and support for individuals and families. We provide a unique opportunity for those affected by ADD/ADHD, ASD, learning disabilities and more. As one client told us ‘I can’t remember a time when we have been so hopeful for what the future holds. Mind Matters is a perfect blend between modern medicine and holistic methods.’ ”

Mind Matters is located at 150 Big Trees Rd. adjacent to the Murphys Post Office. For information about the clinic’s services, or to make a donation to help it meet its demands, contact Executive Director Trudy Lackey at (209) 728-2184, or visit the website www.mindmattersclinic.org.
