The 2nd Annual Murphys Mutt March and the 1st Muttminster Dog Show

Murphys, CA...Saturday, April 28th at Murphys Park- registration opens at 10am. The Murphys Mutt March will have it’s second annual walk to Ironstone from Murphys Park this year. This successful event will be followed by the first annual Muttminster Dog Show. Together these events promise to be one of the most dog-friendly, fun-filled days for the whole family, and join a host of other fantastic events the town of Murphys has to offer throughout the year.

“The first Mutt March last year revealed the community’s desire for a social dog-related event in the area. A substantial group of local dog lovers has come together since then with the goal of creating a fully-fenced dog park somewhere in the Murphys community that would also host people-friendly events. Our dogs depend on us, not just because we have thumbs, but because we provide safety & happiness. The Muttminster Dog Show will be the first annual fundraiser for the future dog park, while adding to the successful fun of the Mutt March to create a delightful dog day while benefitting the community park!”, said Skye DeLeo, local dog trainer and President of the Calaveras Canine Corp.

The popular Murphys Community Park will be the starting place at 10:30 am; from there the Mutt March will progress down Algiers St. to Six Mile Rd. and out to Ironstone Vineyards. Participants will get to enjoy the scenic route while it’s in the midst of spring finery, with gorgeous green fields and beautiful blossoms. There will be water & treat stations along the way, and after returning to the park the Muttminster Dog Show will begin about 11:30 pm!

Murphys Park will be filled with fabulous vendors with great local stuff for you and your pups, and there will be several tasty food trucks as well as Rocky’s Artisanal Food & fresh juices to nourish everyone. Local musician and fan-favorite Jill Warren will be playing throughout the day in the Gazeebo, and the Calaveras Humane Society will be in attendance if you don’t have a furry friend but want to find one.

The registration fee for the Mutt March is $10 and will include bottled water, dog biscuits, and waste bags. There will also be raffle tickets for sale from 10am – 12:30pm and prize winners will be drawn for the duration of the Dog Show. Proceeds for the Mutt March and raffle will benefit the Murphys Community Club who tirelessly work to maintain our beloved park. The registration fee for the Muttminster Dog Show is $10 per category and includes coupons to local vendors. 100% of the proceeds from the Dog Show will benefit the Calaveras Canine Corp. and go toward the building of the future Murphys Community Dog Park.

Categories for the Dog Show are: Best Costume, So-Ugly-Its-Cute, Best Rescue Story, Best Manners (sit, lay, stay), and Best Trick. Winners will be chosen by round of applause with a Best of Show Champion to be chosen from the winners of those categories. Dog Show participants are limited to spayed or neutered pets only please.
Pre-registration will be available for the Mutt March at Spence Ranch Feed & Supply, 1291 Hwy 49 in Altaville, or at Next! Upscale Consignment, 220 Big Trees Rd in Murphys, or you may also register at the event. Registration for the Muttminster Dog Show will be at the event only and open from 10am to 12:30pm, space is limited, so be sure to register early.

Both organizations are 501c3 non-profits and all donations are tax deductible, Tax ID info available upon request, please contact the Murphys Community club at 209-728-8093 or visit the Community Club link at www.visitmurphys.com.
