Downed Tree Blocks Parrotts Ferry & Community Helps Open Roadway Back Up

Columbia, CA...From the Sonora area CHP...."Approx 8:15 pm, we received a report of a tree down blocking Parrotts Ferry Road approximately one mile north of Marble Quarry Road. Upon arriving on scene, it was discovered that the tree was approximately 3 feet in diameter and was completely blocking the roadway. A passing lumberjack was quick to provide assistance, cutting the tree into large portions and dragging them out of the way. The good citizens of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties were quick to lend their assistance in removing large limbs from the road and raking and shoveling debris.

The CHP-Sonora area would like to thank all the citizens that stopped to assist. This is an example of the outstanding people we get to work with in our community. Thanks to the lumberjack, helpful citizens, and the Tuolumne County Roads department, the roadway was reopened to traffic at approximately 9:30 pm.

Additionally the patience of the motorists that were delayed was appreciated."
