State Senate Candidate Tom Pratt Continues to Gain Endorsements

Murphys, CA....Vallecito Union School Board Member, local businessman and community leader Tom Pratt announced today that he has earned the endorsement of the California Young Democrats and the Fresno County Democratic Women's Club. The California Young Democrats is the official youth arm of the California Democratic Party, representing progressive youth from ages 13-35. In the 8th Senate District, that represents over 40,000 voters. The Fresno County Women's Democratic Club is the oldest continuously operating Democratic Club in California. Democratic Women make up an even larger voting bloc with almost 90,000 voters in the 8th Senate District.

"Having the support of the California Young Democrats and the Fresno County Women's Democratic Club is crucial to my race," Tom Pratt said. "Young and female voters and will play a huge role in changing the political landscape and continuing to elect Democratic officials all over the country this cycle. I'm honored to have their support leading up to the June 5th primary."

Tom has also secured the endorsement of the California Democratic Party, the California Labor Federation, the California Teachers Association, State Controller Betty Yee, State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, and community members around the district.

With parents who never graduated college but always provided their children with the opportunity to succeed, Tom has demonstrated a strong commitment throughout his career to education, hard work and civic duty. As a Vallecito Union School Board Member, Tom has focused on improving student achievement, attracting and attaining quality teachers and providing early childhood and family support initiatives, while responsibly managing the district's budget.

Tom is also a successful business leader who believes in supporting women's right to fair and equal wages with high quality benefits. Tom has made a successful career in the insurance industry and taken on unexpected challenges, such as working to insure US embassies across the world after 9/11 and most recently to secure coverage for California residents who continue to lose their homeowners insurance due to fire risk. He moved to Murphys in 2008 to help care for his mother during her final weeks of terminal brain cancer. There, he met his wife Kimberly, got married and started a family. Tom's life experience and values inspired him to run for school board, and today for the California State Senate.

Tom is running to increase access to health care and funding for rural hospitals, to expand broadband availability, and to increase job training programs and apprenticeships. He's also focused on fire insurance solutions for rural portions of the district.

You can follow Tom's campaign at www.TomPratt.org and on Facebook and Twitter.
