State Senate Candidate Tom Pratt Continues to Gain Endorsements

Murphys, CA....Vallecito Union School Board Member, local businessman and community leader Tom Pratt announced today that he has earned the endorsement of the California Young Democrats and the Fresno County Democratic Women's Club. The California Young Democrats is the official youth arm of the California Democratic Party, representing progressive youth from ages 13-35. In the 8th Senate District, that represents over 40,000 voters. The Fresno County Women's Democratic Club is the oldest continuously operating Democratic Club in California. Democratic Women make up an even larger voting bloc with almost 90,000 voters in the 8th Senate District.

"Having the support of the California Young Democrats and the Fresno County Women's Democratic Club is crucial to my race," Tom Pratt said. "Young and female voters and will play a huge role in changing the political landscape and continuing to elect Democratic officials all over the country this cycle. I'm honored to have their support leading up to the June 5th primary."

Tom has also secured the endorsement of the California Democratic Party, the California Labor Federation, the California Teachers Association, State Controller Betty Yee, State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, and community members around the district.

With parents who never graduated college but always provided their children with the opportunity to succeed, Tom has demonstrated a strong commitment throughout his career to education, hard work and civic duty. As a Vallecito Union School Board Member, Tom has focused on improving student achievement, attracting and attaining quality teachers and providing early childhood and family support initiatives, while responsibly managing the district's budget.

Tom is also a successful business leader who believes in supporting women's right to fair and equal wages with high quality benefits. Tom has made a successful career in the insurance industry and taken on unexpected challenges, such as working to insure US embassies across the world after 9/11 and most recently to secure coverage for California residents who continue to lose their homeowners insurance due to fire risk. He moved to Murphys in 2008 to help care for his mother during her final weeks of terminal brain cancer. There, he met his wife Kimberly, got married and started a family. Tom's life experience and values inspired him to run for school board, and today for the California State Senate.

Tom is running to increase access to health care and funding for rural hospitals, to expand broadband availability, and to increase job training programs and apprenticeships. He's also focused on fire insurance solutions for rural portions of the district.

You can follow Tom's campaign at www.TomPratt.org and on Facebook and Twitter.

The kids are still waiting to get all the free stuff they were promised 2 years ago...unlike the minorities and special interest groups, you actually have to deliver on promises to this group to keep their loyalty.

Red vs Blue

Priorities of Democrats: gay rights, transgender rights, muslim rights, illegal immigrant rights, total government control.

Priorities of Republicans: national security and the economy, both of which are vital for any country to survive and thrive. You pick!

Democrats are the party of negativity. I'm a registered ind Independent. I look for positive messages from each party and what their plan is. Trump had a plan . Whether or not you agreed with it is another issue. I never heard a plan from Hillary. Example, "We need to add more jobs". Every politician says something similar . But every politician doesn't say HOW they will create more jobs . Again, like him or not Trump told you what he was going to do . Very refreshing. I wish all politicians would do the same.

    You must be kidding!

Democrats: EQUAL RIGHTS as defined by the constitution
Republicans: Rights as defined by Donald Trump, which DO NOT align with the constitution.

You are obviously on the extreme side of the GOP. That's fine. You're entitled to be extreme because our democracy allows you to be so. Thank goodness we have a form of government with checks and balances and a judiciary that is independent of government personnel. It keeps you extremists in check (including Trump) and ensures the rights of ALL people, not just those that The Quack likes.

    I'm with you on that.

There is rarely a good discussion that has to do with the article. Sometimes one person has something constructive to contribute. The HAHAHA guy is always there with the same posting though it is 100% irrelevant at this point in history. And then there's the profanity and additional irrelevant input.

I used to read. Now I just scan in the hopes of finding something read-worthy.

Related to Tom. The incumbent is termed out. He did a good job of representing District 8. It seems Tom would give it his all in terms of getting input on what district voters want, and then would make those his priorities. Don't get a sense he is a 'party-line' guy (unlike McClintock who is definitely a GOP guy regardless of what the constituents in the foothills say to him). I believe Tom would fight for what the rural voters voice are their priorities.
