Mark Twain Medical Center Welcomes Additional Board Certified Surgeon with Multiple Specialties to Join the Team at MTMC

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center is pleased to announce the arrival of an additional Surgeon to Mark Twain Medical Center. Dr. Eldo Frezza is a Board Certified General Surgeon, specializing in breast surgery, wound care, colorectal surgery, and advanced technology in hernia surgery. Dr. Frezza has practiced medicine in both the United States and Italy. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.

“Dr. Frezza has a very impressive background,” commented Bob Diehl, CEO MTMC adding “In a rural community, it is important to find high quality physicians that complement our existing excellent Medical Staff. Coming from a small rural community in New Mexico, Dr. Frezza understands the value of delivering high quality services that are needed to keep our friends and neighbors close to home.”

Dr. Eldo Frezza earned his medical degree from University of Padu School of Medicine, Italy. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was in the top five in his graduating class.  Dr. Frezza completed his Internship at Howard University Hospital & School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.; followed by General Surgery residencies at University of Padova, Italy; Howard University Hospital and School of Medicine, Washington, D.C.; Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey; and Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York. He obtained his Fellowship in an advanced Gastroenterology and Laparoscopic Fellowship Program at University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He obtained a colorectal fellowship in London, England. He is board certified. Dr. Frezza holds a Master’s Degree in Health Organization Management.

“I believe very strongly in medical ethics, patient involvement, and the value of practicing in a community that has a small great hospital. Larger hospitals are necessary, and while a Critical Access Hospital cannot provide all of the services that a larger major hospital does,” remarked Dr. Frezza. “Mark Twain Medical Center has excellent patient quality outcomes. This is very important to me, I believe wholeheartedly in the ability to treat the entire patient; mind, body and spirit. I have written several articles about the benefits of treating the human spirit. I enjoy teaching my patients about good eating habits, healthy living choices, and how to care better for themselves. One of my many philosophies of care is about including the family in the care plan. It has been my experience that patients improve and recover faster with a willingness to overcome their illness by fighting the odds with family near them. When my patients are recovering, they need their family nearby. This is one of the many reasons I choose to practice in a small community. I understand the importance of keeping patients close to home.”

“We are very pleased to be bringing on another excellent fulltime surgeon to Mark Twain Medical Center,” stated Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lonnie Smith. “Dr. Frezza will be providing specialty surgeries that are needed in this Community. He is very excited about working with our team and getting to know the community.”
