Juvenile Cited after Fireworks Found to be Cause of Finnigan Fire

Angels Camp, CA...From CalFire TCU...CAL FIRE assisted in the containment of this three-quarter acre fire and 4th of July memories will never be the same for the juvenile who caused it. CAL FIRE issued a citation to the juvenile for possession of dangerous fireworks and carelessly causing a fire.

While fireworks carrying the State Fire Marshall’s Safe and Sane label are legal in parts of Calaveras County, it is NEVER safe to use illegal fireworks that shoot anything into the air. It is also very dangerous to use ANY fireworks in or near dry grass and vegetation. Some lessons in life are hard learned, hopefully this juvenile will not repeat this mistake again.

For more information on fireworks safety visit : http://www.readyforwildfire.org/Fireworks-Safety/

I hope you all like the new cargo shipping container permit fees Dennis Mills just forced on the planning department to enforce on ALL containers. $172 permit required every six months and a county inspection required! Have fun with your ban and new fees and taxes!

Maybe you should have banned fireworks instead!

Exactly. If given a chance, most kids especially once would try once. Hopefully a lesson learned but nail the one selling to a juvenile.

Oh, for goodness sake. Even the best of families cannot be responsible for every action the unformed adolescent and teen brain takes. Let's just hope for a lesson learned and grateful it wasn't worse.

Nope. Been here for a couple of generations with adult children here and Bay area. It can happen anywhere. Children can't be monitored 24/7 nor should they be because they won't learn to make decisions for themselves. The best of them make mistakes. It's about learning from them.

This is one of the reasons a bike/walking trail to Melones from Angels Camp should never be built! Many see this as grassland, but to the rancher's that would have this path go right next to their property which is better known as feed for their cattle! As proven this week down by Milton, many stupid news people referred to this as "just grass", if you know anything about ranching this is their cattle's food supply, and it doesn't ger replenished until we get rain. Fireworks, cigarettes, dope smoker's could easily start a fire just as this kid did!

Not the meth, not the other drugs, lack of parental guidance, alcohol, lack of education, and zero common sense. Take some responsibility perkos man, mr retired senior citizen with roomates. Smell the marijuana flowers, relapse and go on a crime spree, or have crazy sex after a spliff all the while desperately hoping not to "contact" sexual transmitted diseases.LOL MR EXPERT. GOOD DAY!

" Fireworks, cigarettes, dope smoker's could easily start a fire just as this kid did!" You conveniently left drunks off your list. You know, those ones we see outside bars, slurring their words and flipping their burning cig butts into the street instead of putting them out and properly disposing of them.

Safe and sane?!? That is such a ridiculous description in a county full of dry fuel, forests, and canyons that can spread a fire so quickly in this heat wave! I heard on the news that legal fireworks are the ones that stay on the ground. Well, great. And just where do you think the fire is??? In the clouds??! It’s on the ground! C’mon, people!!

Cannot agree more. It has nothing to do with the fireworks label but the humans operating them. Any kind of fireworks have no place in a tinder box like ours.

Well apparently only dirty dopers are the problem. As that's the name these neoconservatives have given, another form of segregation. I say ban fireworks, as one can see its not just marijuana growers causing fires. Ban idiots and patriotic fire starters! Ban!

In the picture, snapped in the darkness of a Wilton vineyard, Jack Kautz crouches behind a dead buck, smiling as he holds up the animal's head by its freakishly large set of antlers.

It was a buck for the record books with sprawling antlers about an arm's width apart. If Katuz 52, had been had been able to claim it is a official trophy, he could have added it to his long list of accomplishments detailed on the website of his family's Lodi grape growing business, Ironstone Vineyards.
