Are You Ready for Some Fishing?
Angels Camp, CA...Glory Hole Sports in Angels Camp will be hosting their 10th Annual Fishing Seminar and Customer Appreciation Days on April 5th and 6th, 2008. This event gets bigger and better each year. There will be product booths and manufacturers’ representatives with great deals on rods, reels, tackle, and accessories such as downriggers, and we will be putting line on your reels for a penny per yard (up to 20 lb. test), so bring your fishing reels......
North River Marine helps sponsor the event, and they will be showing off some of their beautiful boats, and giving away two Scotty downriggers.
The seminar will begin on Saturday, April 5th, at 7:00 a.m. at the Calaveras Fairgrounds (Frogtown) across from Glory Hole Sports. Imagine a big party with lots of avid anglers- that is what this event is like. Professional anglers will speak about techniques for targeting the various species found in Melones and other Mother Lode Lakes. There will be drawings for lots of great prizes, such as downriggers, tackle, fishing accessories, and guided fishing trips. A continental breakfast and barbeque lunch will be provided. There will be product representatives, fishing guides and tackle manufacturers available to offer advice and answer any questions you may have. No reservations are necessary- just show up for a fun and fact-filled day. Cost is only $5, and you will get breakfast, lunch, entrance to the all day event, and five raffle tickets for the many prize drawings. What a deal!
On Sunday, April 6th, on-the-water downrigger lessons and bass-fishing lessons will be provided. Small groups of anglers will go out on New Melones Lake with professional guides and tournament anglers to learn the secrets of successful fishing. For $25.00, you will spend two hours on the lake. You can sign up for lessons given by professional guides on how to use downriggers to target trout and kokanee. This is ideal for boat owners who have or are considering purchasing downriggers. Participants can also sign up for a lesson given by tournament bass anglers on how to find and catch bass. While you will be fishing from a bass boat, much of what you learn can also be used to catch bass from shore. Participants love the fast boat ride, too!
Because space is limited, reservations are needed for the lessons. We are taking reservations now, either by phone at (209) 736-4333, or in person at the store.
Speakers on Saturday, April 5th, include bass tournament angler Randy Pringle on Basic Bass Fishing Techniques, Danny Layne of Fishin’ Dan’s Guide Service and Monte Smith of Gold Country Sportfishing on Trolling Secrets, Vance Staplin of Vance’s Tackle and Guide Service on targeting kokanee, and Len Vinci of Hummingbird Electronics on choosing and using electronics. There will plenty of time to speak one-on-one with many professional anglers and guides. So come and have a great time, win some great prizes, and learn a lot about fishing!
