Angels Camp Police Explorer's ~By Hanna Heath
Angels Camp, CA…. Yesterday Officer Mckeon from the Angels Camp Police Department instructed four students for a “Police Explorer's” program. Police Explorers are students who have an interest in law enforcement and someday would like to work in the field. Explorer's go through the basic police training which includes various police related scenarios….
Yesterdays training included: position of interview, L stance, terry pat, and traffic stops. All four students were given the chance to practice with all four training techniques.
Officer Mckeon gave the students a real police scenario that included a traffic stop and car search, inside the vehicle there were pretend illegal substances and it was the explores duty to conduct a car search and find the illegal substances.
Officer Mckeon also demonstrated a compliant victim, passive resisting victim, and come out fast victim. During his demonstration he emphasized on “articulation”. Articulation is an act or the process of articulating: the articulation of a form; the articulation of a new thought. During the next few months the explores will go through extensive training to prepare them for the police academy. Good luck explorers!
