BOS NEWS....Consent Agenda Items Pass & Sheriff's Department Items get Pushed to Next Week. Slippery Slopes on Tap at 1:30pm
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is in Closed Session now and will reconvene for what is expected to be a lively study session on the Driveway Slope Issue starting at 1:30pm this afternoon. The consent and other items passed in this morning's session. The items regarding the Sheriff's Department...
and possible purchase of land for the new jail were pushed back until next week.
The item left for today is the Study Session on the Driveway Slope Issue in the county. This issue has emotions stirred up on both sides. One contractor we spoke with this morning has already spoke with council and is assembling a group for a possible lawsuit against the county.
Many people hope that an acceptable compromise can be reached at today's study session. A list of proposed mitigations has been worked out and should provide many property owners affected by this issue with an acceptable plan for action.
The central complaint from most people in the community seems to be that the current course of action while possibly necessary should not have been pursued without prior notification.
