Wow, I don’t think 49 and fricot city road are even near pool station road. Do a shout out to flatlanders, they’ve gone home. Very sad to hear this..

Poole Station Rd
Posted on: 2018-09-04 11:09:52   By: Anonymous

By the way, Poole Station Road has an E in it. Don't know who started the spelling to be Pool. It's not a swimming pool road. It was named after Mr. Poole who had station at Hwy 4 and Poole Station Rd to change horses back in the day going to either San Andreas or Angels Camp. Let's not mess with history!

Spell check is not infallible and proofreading always counts if you want your words to hold merit.

Correct! I've lived here 59 years and am glad somebody TRIES to correct all the mistakes in spelling of roads and historical events in the county. Too bad the "newcomers" aren't interested in historical accuracy! I live on the "detour" of this section of Highway 49 (Calaveritas Road) and if I'm home, notice right away that there is a problem on the highway due to all the traffic going by, like happened this morning. Four UPS trucks in a row going towards San Andreas! Hope I don't know any of the people involved.

True. Fricot City Rd. does not even intersect with Highway 49. It must be Highway 49 and Fourth Crossing Rd.? I think that something has happened with the GPS that CHP is using? That..or the officers can't read maps? Whatever it is, it needs fixed yesterday.

Pool Station

The correct spelling is Pool; it was spelled incorrectly as Poole on the sign for many years. It was named for the family of Andrew and Margaret Pool who resided a the intersection of present Pool Station Road and State Route 4. See Las Calaveras, the quarterly bulletin of the Calaveras Historical Society, 10/01/1971.
