Mark Twain is Sponsoring a Health Career Fair at Toyon Middle School March 21st~From Larry Cornish
San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is sponsoring a Health Career Fair at Toyon Middle School for all 8th graders on March 21, 2008. The purpose of the fair is to help develop productive careers by developing and identifying goals for high school and post secondary academic paths. There are 265 8th graders at Toyon Middle School who are participating in the Fair. As of today there are 29 booths representing health care careers, including some of the areas first responders including air and ground ambulance and sheriff’s officers. The hospital alone has over 80 vocations that will be represented...
“We are so excited about the opportunity to work with the teachers to help students reach their full potential” said hospital president Feliciano Jiron. “There are so many health care career opportunities in our area for our children; our hope is that we can provide some passion during the Fair that will excite them and provide some future academic direction. The day should be an awesome experience for the children, and one that we hope to replicate for all Calaveras County middle schools.”
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 45 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
