Deputies Arrest Two Subjects for Burglary Charges near Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA...On 10/14/18 around 7:30pm a citizen called in a suspicious vehicle parked near a storage container at the construction site of the new Calaveras Humane Society building on Highway 49 just outside of Angels Camp. Three Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on scene within a couple minutes. A deputy saw a male subject, later identified as Eric Hendryx (age 42 from Oakland) at one of the storage containers. It appeared to the deputy that Hendryx was manipulating the lock on the storage container. When the deputy turned on his emergency lights, Hendryx ran away. The deputy pursued Hendryx on foot and found Hendryx down a small hill lying on the ground entangled in barbed wire. The deputy detained Hendryx. Meanwhile other deputies began checking around the parked vehicle. Deputies located and detained a second subject, Jason Hackmeier (age 44 from Valley Springs).

Investigation showed the locks on two storage containers had been drilled and wire had been stripped from the crawl space beneath the building. Approximately $1500 worth of damage was done to the building and the storage containers. The two suspects were found to be in possession of burglary tools, narcotics, and narcotics paraphernalia. Hendryx was out on bail from Alameda County and had an ankle monitor. Both Hackmeier and Hendryx were arrested and transported to the Calaveras County Jail where they were booked on multiple charges with $45,000 bail.

Charges include:
594(b)(1)PC – Felony Vandalism
664/459PC – Attempted Burglary
602(L)PC – Trespassing
135PC – Destroy or Conceal Evidence
11377(A)H&S – Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine)
11364(a)H&S – Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia

Tweakers. You have to pretty much nail everything down these days or it can walk away. Good work, SO, and also pleased that this ranch's barbed wire helped!

Should have wrapped the other guy up in barbed wire and left them there to bleed out.

Geez Louise. Stealing from the humane society and basically, homeless animals? Not unlike robbing a school or church. No moral compass, whatsoever. I used to think this kind of stuff only happened in the cities but no longer.

Nothing wrong with cutting and pasting and compiling if it applies to local news. All does not have to be by an original reporter.

Or it used to be. You know what kind of cities I was talking about - Modesto, Stockton and now, Valley Springs.

Take another look at Angels Camp. Just as Valley Springs has fallout from Stockton. Angels Camp has fallout from Sonora/Modesto. And now all felons and criminals know they are short on law enforcement. This is only the beginning unless we beef up our law enforcement and have move visible patrols day and night.

Agreed. The president and he wouldn't last a New York minute as the head of any company if not born into it. A divider versus someone who brings people together and someone who has now given racism and bigotry a voice.

I can't wait for the day when the report ends with"and the Deputies on scene wasted the suspects with their service revolvers, there will be no booking, parole, plea bargaining, end of story! The bigger lesson to be learned here is that Jerry doesn't find this kind of crime worth punishing, gay boy, Gavin is lockstep with Jerry and it amazes me how many will continue to vote leaders in that have this mindset, Folks, you and only you can change this madness, vote Republican!

The way it is going, residents will probably have to police their own areas. Who wants to be law enforcement anymore? There is no respect from those who think they do not have to work and everything should be given to them. Then the certain segment of the population (13%) are just waiting to kill you if they get the chance.

The biggest problem with that is, that we hand out so many freebies in California. Every freeloader, mentally ill, drug addict and illegal has ran to our state to live on the streets and get the free stuff. Many of them are on the voting roles.

Good job deputies. We need to get rid of Angels PD and contract with Sheriff. Angels doesn't need more tax money just contract out PD & their budget will be in the black. City needs to learn to live within their budget.
