"Slippery Slopes"...A Status Update #2 From Doug Shinn~By John Hamilton

Arnold, CA...We had the pleasure to check in with Doug Shinn from Cedar Creek Realty on the status of the negotiations with Calaveras County on the Driveway Slope Issue. For those of you who may not be familiar with the issue the County is now interpreting an existing county ordinance in a more restrictive manner than it had been doing for a number of years. There have been several Stakeholders meetings and a Supervisor Study Session on this topic. A meeting has now been scheduled...

with the county on March 26th to try and come to an amicable agreement. Unless some type of a compromise can be reached on this issue it seems the legal saber rattling is starting to pick up steam.

The local fire Chiefs have proposed a list of Mitigations that might be used to help property owners bring their driveways into compliance. The real sticking point is that members of the public would like to see the existing ordinance used in what has been the commonly accepted manner until the changes to the ordinance have agreed upon be those involved with the process.

Doug and several additional members of the public have spent a great deal of time investigating the slope issue. Our interview runs about 40 minutes..
