"We Are All in This Together"...Angels Camp City Council & Board of Supervisors Meeting Video~By John Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday the Angels Camp City Council and the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors held a joint meeting on their respective general plan updates. They discussed the General Plan update process, Business Development, Airport Land Use, Traffic Circulation, Residential Development and Copperopolis Development Impacts...

The meeting had a very nice tone to it and everyone seemed in agreement that a failure to plan is planning for...well not success.

It was also an understood fact that the growth including chain store growth will be heading our way at some point. The trick will be how to shape and form that growth. Where is the logical spots for industrial, retail, population density and more.

One of the consistent items for Angels Camp City Administrator, Tim Shearer, is that we need have policy in place to shape that growth before the applications are in. It is his assertion that if we wait until we have the applications in hand it will be too late to shape the process.

It was also discussed that we need to avoid residential growth around the airport. Some industrial growth would be welcome but if growth can be shaped within the sphere of influence around the airport it will alleviate the need to find another home for the airport if residential sound sensitive growth encircled it.

This meeting was the first of what will probably become a semi regular occurrance.

We have handheld single camera meeting video enclosed below. We will also post higher quality multi-camera video up later.
