Manuel Lopez, Named Interim Calaveras County Administrative Officer

San Andreas, CA...One of the first items read out of closed session as this meeting got underway the Supervisors named Manuel Lopez, as Interim Calaveras County Administrative Officer with the impending departure of Current CAO Tim Lutz. Mr. Lopez had served previously as interim CAO prior to Mr. Lutz's appointment. He should be able to hit the ground running...

Lopez CAO
Posted on: 2018-12-04 10:03:14   By: Anonymous

1. Spending $137000 at Folsom Ford to purchase new vehicles for the sheriffs department.

There's some local car dealerships inside our county lines. Why not shop local?

They could use the business.

2. Funding $75000 to dba "dirty werks" for cannabis eradication. The address listed as the owners is 13914 quartz mine road.

In AMADOR county.

More money going to amador county to shut down business that were formerly taxed and legal in our county.
More of our tax money leaving calaveras.

Meanwhile...

3. Approved AG preserves for wealthy 1%s whose families have owned the land in calaveras and passed it down for generations.

Why are we not taxing the largest landowners in the county?

Why are they all applying for AG preserves now?

Is it because they think the incoming BOS will give out growing permits to the wealthiest while the rest of the county slides deeper into the hole?

3. CAO Timothy Lutz is quitting.
He's young and his tenure in calaveras was marred by incompetence.

fumbled and flip flopped on key issues, Butte fire recovery is not any where near complete and D2 feels abandoned.

The urgency ordinance/cannabis regulation and subsequent measure C taxes were absolutely mismanaged and now we are seeing lawsuits over the legality of measure C taxes. It's likely that the county will be ruled to pay back the taxes on measure C because they were not in compliance with state law.

Whose oversight was that?

The settlement from PGAndE to Calaveras county should go to cleaning up the fire scar and associated roads. Will the $20+ million just go into the General fund to shore up our counties budget?questions but unfortunately
Our top administrator is out.

Lutz Provided minimal guidance and leadership. Made a mess and now someone else can clean it up.

He left the citizens he was supposedly serving feeling marginalized. Our county is in worse shape economically than when he began and major structural cracks are showing in the infrastructure.

I'm optimistic we can find a better CAO than lutz, we need better leadership all around and we need to support local families and small businesses in our county. It's disheartening to see Calaveras give away our tax dollars and our young people move away.

Calaveras will prosper. stay alert to corruption and don't hesitate to call out abuses of power and mismanagement. Attend BOS meetings and If you think you can do a better job, Go for it ! We need you.

Shop and support local businesses in your community. Help friends and neighbors and be kind this season !
Happy holidays to all.

And I am glad to hear that Mr. Fordhal is enjoying retired life. I recently talked to Jodi and she was telling me that Todd and family are doing just fine. I'm sure Scott Ellis will be able to fill into his shoes and to keep up the good work of catching criminals in Angels Camp. Having the sheriff's dept. is also a great help! I'm sure Angels PD will eventually hire a few more very competent and dedicated people.

It might help to hire a real man for the CAO position. Even if it is a woman, get someone with some balls for a change.

Apparently there was at least one person who did not know that ironclad
        fact.
        Hopefully though...
someday in calaveras county we'll have a Prius dealership to call our own.

I really like Bay Area Bimbo slur though, feel free to share some more but remember it's the pine tree you'll have to keep your homophobic and racist remarks at least PG or they will be censored.

Alright enough kidding hopefully if we ever met eye to eye we could at least share a laugh find some common ground and respect the fact we both call calaveras county home.

This county used to have two or three new car dealerships before the flatlanders and citiots invaded these hills, yet still continued buying their cars from the bay area.
          The local dealers died.
Go back to the flats, you are ruining our hills.

Whoops my apologies I was totally wrong on calaveras having a car dealership . I thought 49er autos in AC sold vehicles.. I now realize they are closed and they never sold new cars.. I don't get down that part of the county very often thanks for being civil!

Years ago we had 49er Subaru, previously a chevy dealership and Stewart Ford way back in San Andreas. It has been years since this county had a new car dealership and will most likely be years before and if it ever has another one....
