Calaveras County Accepts Resignation of County Administrator and Provides Direction on the Appointment of an Interim Administrator

San Andreas, CA – Today, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors accepted the resignation of the County Administrative Officer (CAO), Timothy Lutz. Mr. Lutz has served as the CAO since April 2017. He will be leaving after the first of the year to assume the role of Health & Human Services Agency Director in Tulare County.
“It is with very mixed emotion that I leave Calaveras County. I am tremendously grateful for the support of the Board of Supervisors over my tenure as CAO. I feel that I was able to accomplish a number of the goals I laid out when I came to Calaveras and am leaving County Administration with excellent staff in the key roles needed for ongoing success. I wish to thank the Board of Supervisors, County department staff, and community partners for their support,” said Mr. Lutz.

In addition to accepting Mr. Lutz’s resignation, the Board directed Mr. Lutz to bring a contract forward on December 18 with Manuel Lopez, to serve as the Interim CAO. Mr. Lopez served previously as the Interim CAO prior to Mr. Lutz’s appointment. Prior to that, Mr. Lopez served as the County Administrative Officer for San Juaquin County for 11 ½ years.

For more information, please contact County PIO, Timothy W. Lutz at (209) 754-6025.

This is really unethical behavior IMO. If you take a job and accept full pay while you learn it and come up to speed on the local issues and personalities, it is really poor form to then quit for a slightly better job. Nothing illegal in doing that, of course, but it really reveals this guy to be low quality.

I hope they make him wait a long time for his last paychecks.

You folks are completely out of touch. The county leadership at the top is dysfunctional. Dennis Mills is challenged psychologically. Gary Tofanelli will blow which ever way the wind blows. District 5 can't decide if its for a supervisor in fishing boots, a retired drug dealer, a senile senior, or a nice guy that shows promise but has no experience in local government management; then we have merita, then we don't have merita, then we do have merita; the only supervisor with intelligence and ethics is Jack Garamendi. But one person on the board does not a leadership team make. who would want to fly in a cuckoo's nest. Lutz tried, but he wasn't sufficiently certifiably insane to justify staying in the job. i am not sure tulare county is a great bet, but calaveras county is bordering on the ungovernable.

Yes Tim, we know that. But your behavior enabled them.

No one ran against Garamendi. Garamendi accepted a very large donation to his campaign from a real estate company in San Francisco. No what interest would a real estate company in San Francisco have in Calaveras County? Corruption at it's best.
