North Beardsley Prescribed Burn to Begin on Tuesday March 25th
On March 25, 2008 the Summit Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest, will begin prescribed burning on sections of the 1,575 acre North Beardsley Underburn project, located approximately 5 miles northwest of Strawberry, along Forest Service road 5N02. The planned ignition is expected to last two days, with approximately 300 acres ignited daily, depending on conditions. Smoke will be visible in the area, and from Highway 108, with.....
some down canyon drift in the evening and early morning. The purpose of the project is to reduce the buildup of flammable forest fuels, both ground fuels and ladder fuels; and to reduce the threat of uncontrolled, large and damaging fires.
