Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Receives $5,000 from Rotary of San Andreas as 1st Annual Ragin’ Cajun Festival Brings the Mardi Gras Vibe!

Jackson, CA...Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has accepted a check for $5,000 from Rotary Club of San Andreas as a recipient of proceeds from the organization’s 1st Annual Ragin’ Cajun Festival, held in San Andreas on March 9. The family-friendly festival, a brand-new addition to the club’s line-up of community fundraising events, featured a colorful array of Cajun-inspired food, decorations and activities for all who braved the ragin’ weather! Treats included a massive crawfish boil, fried catfish, Po’ Boys, and SIX live Zydeco and blues bands. A handful of booths with arts & crafts and other Mardi Gras-inspired wares lined the street.

Rotary of San Andreas President Cliff Edson said, “Calaveras County has a very large senior population and many families have experienced the loving care that the folks at Hospice deliver, at the most important and emotional times in their lives. Not only do they support our loved ones through their journey, but they support our families as well! I believe by donating to our local Hospice, we are investing much needed support to our whole community!”

Rotarian Sherri Reusche commented, “San Andreas Rotary carefully chose an organization to give funds to. Hospice is an amazing program that touches all of our lives. We as Rotarians have a motto ‘Service above Self,’ and Hospice has the same motto. Thank you for all you do for the families and loved ones in our two counties! It is our pleasure to help you in any way we can.”

Proceeds extended to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras County will go toward general core services the agency provides to patients suffering from a life-limiting illness. Event proceeds like this one are instrumental in the non-profit agency’s ability to fulfill its mission to provide end-of-life care for everyone in the two-county region they serve, regardless of financial situation. In more than 35 years, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras County has never turned away a patient for inability to pay.

Executive Director Ariane Debien said, “The Rotary Club of San Andreas has again touched our heart. We are absolutely blessed to have a partner in the community who shows this level of support to us. Every dollar counts in the work we do, and this generous gift is truly appreciated and significant.”
