Dignity Health Names Doug Archer as Mark Twain Medical Center President/CEO

San Andreas, CA...Dignity Health is pleased to announce that Doug Archer is the new President/Chief Executive Officer of Mark Twain Medical Center. Mr. Archer’s first day was on Monday, March 18, 2019. Doug is an accomplished healthcare executive, serving in critical leadership roles for more than two decades. As President of Sutter Health-Memorial Hospital Los Banos, he was responsible for overall operations at a busy 40-bed hospital and rural health clinic. Doug has been instrumental in facilitating physician engagement and partnerships, increasing volume in key areas, overseeing construction and expansion projects, and implementing a new orthopedics surgery program. Leading strategic initiatives to achieve clinical excellence, quality improvements, and financial goals, Memorial Hospital Los Banos has received many awards and recognition under his leadership. Throughout his 20 year career with the Sutter Health system, Doug has held many administrative roles and fellowships at the enterprise and facility level.

“I am honored to join the amazing team of caregivers at Mark Twain Medical Center,” commented Doug Archer, President and CEO MTMC. “I am thrilled about living in Calaveras County! I am very optimistic about the future of healthcare delivery in this county and plan to work closely with the community to ensure the hospital and clinics continue to provide exceptional care!”

As a community leader, Doug is a current member of ACHE/California Association of Healthcare Leaders and served on their board until 2011. He is a member of the Advisory Council for Los Banos Boys and Girls Club, is active with Relay for Life, and coaches youth basketball programs. Doug holds a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors in Political Science from California State University, Sacramento.

Married for 18 years, Doug and his wife Holly have two children, Kylie and Jake. As a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Doug enjoys hiking, camping, and snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada and is looking forward to all the outdoor activities that Calaveras County has to offer him and his family.

In his new role as President/CEO of Mark Twain Medical Center, Doug will continue to advance MTMC’s role as the area’s health care leader, ensuring the highest quality, compassionate care for our patients, expanding programs, services and specialties, and delivering on our promise to deliver health care with humanity.
