FCC Chairman Proposes Eliminating Rule that Drives Up Phone Rates for Rural Americans

Washington, DC...2019—Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai announced that the Commission will vote at its April meeting on eliminating a policy known as the “rate floor,” which is forcing many rural customers to pay higher telephone rates. Under Chairman Pai’s leadership, the Commission froze the rate floor in 2017. Now, the Chairman is asking his colleagues to eliminate it once and for all.

“The FCC’s rate floor is a counterproductive regulation that hurts rural Americans,” said Chairman Pai. “For example, unless the Commission takes action, many rural consumers will be forced to pay almost 50% more out of their pockets starting this July. That’s why we’ve heard from the AARP, the National Consumer Law Center, the National Tribal Telecommunications Association, and others that the rule makes service in rural areas less affordable. I’ve spoken for years against the rate floor and am pleased that the Commission will be voting in April on eliminating it. I hope my colleagues will join me in taking this step to provide needed relief to older Americans on fixed incomes, low-income Americans, and many others.”

And I believe this man will prevent rate increases! I'm sure our POTUS will back that up and not let anyone run interference on that one!

I believe every word Ajit Pai says, he's always put the public's interest first. Sure.

If you ever get the chance to shake hands with this man, count your fingers when you're done.

      Eliminate Rate Floor
Posted on: 2019-03-31 19:54:55   By: Anonymous

The back door reason for eliminating a rate floor, is so the the telecoms can then raise rates.

As usual, there is a con going on...the tRump con to everything.

I have healthcare and Obama forced his on us. What this had done was raise my rates $2500 more a year per person. The reason was to give those who leech off our tax payers, you know, those people who have pride and responsibilities and want to better themselves, maybe raise a family. I guess it's something parents taught their children and they hope their children will listen to them and make the right choices in life, and not sound like the person on here pointing his crooked finger at others while he's looking and sounding like a fool.

I also already had insurance for my family and had my rates go way up. Not only paying for myself but for others I should not have to be responsible for. And then they keep having children that they can never afford, it is so wrong.

A Great American Icon Has Been Assassinated
Posted on: 2019-04-01 07:30:15   By: Anonymous

I guess many of my country man and woman has heard of the assassination of a truly great American.
Another citizen lost to gun violence. A man who gave to the community that he grew up in
(this is true by the way) when he achieved fame, he gave back. His singing made little kids worship him
and wanting to grow up like him. Many of his songs played for the enjoyment of our younger generation
showing the true spirit of the Democrat Party in America and what they stand for.
RIP Nipsey Hussle and thank you for teaching all of the little democrats running around about gun safety,
violence, treating women as meat bytches, gang bangers, drug dealers. Many of the new generation democrats
are weeping over this senseless killing and a hero in the music world, Hollywood, and are legends in
pro basketballers like Steph Curry are just shocked over someone who raps about killing cops and others
has been himself, gunned down.
Truly another sad day.....that THEPINETREE missed this story, it's just truly unbelievable the you guys don't cover true, great, Democratic Heroes like Nipsey.
