Volunteers Still Needed for Sober Grad Night...Video Chat with Laurie Jurgens
Calaveras County, CA....It’s time to start thinking about the next graduating senior class and their fun and exciting Sober Grad Night Party. Sober Grad Night began at Bret Harte in 1989. Those parents took the idea from Napa High School. Calaveras High joined in the fun in 1992. The purpose of Sober Grad Night is to keep our teenagers in a safe and chemical free environment, while giving them a fun graduation party at the same time. There have been no deaths or seniors....
injured in a vehicle accident on graduation night, since this has started. That alone is a fantastic reason to help support this event. All graduating seniors in Calaveras County are invited. Yearly, over 90% of the graduating seniors attend this fun filled event.
The 2008 Sober Grad Night’s theme is “Ports of Call” with 6 different ports to visit. The parties will start following graduation and last throughout the night, ending in the early dawn. Bret Harte’s graduation is on May 30 and Calaveras’ is on June 11
The success of our Sober Grad Night depends solely on donations, both with time and money, from businesses and individuals. All donations are tax deductible. Currently, the Grad Night Foundation has donation jars at various businesses. Please remember the youth when you’re given your change at the register. There is such a variety of businesses and talent in this county and it’s time to consider our youth of today.
By supporting this event, you’re telling these teenagers that you love them, approve of their choice, are concerned for their safety and are willing to ensure that they have a fun and safe graduation. There are so many other pressures that these kids can lean towards and we need to encourage them not to.
Donations can be mailed directly to the Foundation at:

Volunteers are needed the week of the parties to help decorate and also during the event.
