The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance Announces a Local Art Competition Showcasing the Spirit of Murphys Grape Stomp and Harvest

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is launching the first ever poster art contest to celebrate our 26th anniversary as well as the newly branded “Murphys Grape Stomp and Harvest Festival”. Produced by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance, Murphys Grape Stomp has been one of the regions most popular events enjoyed by generations of local residence and visitors alike who attend year after year to compete in California’s oldest, largest grape stomp competition. This year, the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance will be adding more harvest related activities and events to give people an immersive look into the Sierra Foothills harvest season and winemaking processes by celebrating all things grape harvest with vineyard tours, live music in the park, harvest cooking demonstrations, games, wine activities and more.

Local artists’ are invited to help design a limited-edition collectable poster that reflects Calaveras County’s historic wine region during the harvest season. The winning art submission will be used for all print and digital marketing purposes and will be part of the annual event traditions and on display during the event. The winning artist will receive a $500 prize in the form of $300 cash and $200 in event tickets, gift certificates and member donations.

Deadline for submission is 4pm Friday, May 31st, 2019

Artwork is to be delivered to Calaveras Winegrape Alliance office at 202 Main Street in Murphys. Be sure to call ahead and make arrangements to meet with a staff member when dropping off your submission at (209) 728-9467. The winner will be notified no later than June 14th, 2019 and invited to an awards reception.

About the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance

Established in 1989, The Calaveras Wine Alliance is dedicated to increasing the awareness of all wines produced in Calaveras County and/or produced from Calaveras grapes. We are Calaveras County families that are making some of the most exciting wines in California’s historic Sierra Foothills region.

The Calaveras Wine community invites you to discover our premium hand-crafted wines and unique varietals. Our wines are made in small batches and family run operations dedicated to sustainability and organic practices. Calaveras is a perfect growing region for hearty Spanish and Italian varietals like Barbera, Tempranillo, Mourvedre, Nebbiolo, Grenache, Graciano, Toringa, Albarino, Marsanne, Verdelho and Symphony as well as old vine Zinfandels, hearty and robust Cabernet and Petite Syrah.
