“Run Like Goose” 5K Run/Walk: Local Father Starts Non Profit in Honor of His Son

Murphys, CA, June 2nd 9am – The first annual “Run Like Goose” 5K Run/Walk fundraiser for Grief and Trauma Recovery will be benefiting local Tavius Aiton’s nonprofit Live Like Goose in honor of his son “Goose.” About the event: The 5K Run/Walk starting at Murphy’s Park on Algiers Road in Murphy’s, CA. The run will go out six mile road towards Ironstone Vineyards and back to Murphys Park. The scenic course has some rolling hills and is a fun run or walk.

Join us in raising money and awareness around Grief and Trauma Recovery on Sunday June 2nd, 9am for the start of our first annual “Run Like Goose” 5K event at Murphys Park in Murphys, CA. Preregistration is online at https://RunLikeGoose.itsyourrace.com/register/

$35 for adults $40 race day and $25 under 18, $30 race day. This will include special race event tee shirt and participation metals as well as refreshments and live music!

ABOUT LIVE LIKE GOOSE
After the loss of his son, Aiton made it a mission to help others through their grief and trauma in partnership with Monica Martin, a PHD student specializing in Trauma Recovery. Together, they founded Live Like Goose in 2018 and have been supporting individuals through grief and trauma recovery ever since. Live Like Goose offers ongoing, long-term education, services and support through mindfulness and holistic modalities to children, youth, and adults who have experienced grief or complex trauma. Now, we are expanding our group programs and raising money to help bring youth programs to Calaveras County.

Donations may also be made directly to www.livelikegoose.org. We are a Charitable Foundation 501c3 nonprofit (EIN#82-5376182) providing holistic and ongoing grief and trauma education and recovery services in safe healing communities. For more information, please visit www.livelikegoose.org.

Event occurs on 06/02/2019 from 09:00 AM to .

    Some questions
Posted on: 2019-04-12 08:42:26   By: Anonymous

This looks like a worthy cause, but I have some questions.
Tavius Aiton, the “chairman of the board,” lists himself as having a degree from Santa Clara university, but I can’t find any record supporting that statement.
Monica Martin is listed as a psychologist, but her business website (monicamartin.org) appears to indicate she’s a massage therapist and holistic psychologist, which, unless I’m misinterpreting it, is a fancy way of saying life coach. What is Ms. Martin’s psychologist licensing number? I can’t find it on her website.
I’m also having trouble figuring out what and how this charity delivers the services they’re promising. The charity’s website description states they’ll provide counseling at low to no cost, but there is no other information indicating how that will be delivered. The charity’s address also appears to be Mr Aiton and Ms. Martin’s apartment.
Mr Aiton’s website (tavius.org) doesn’t shed any light on these questions either, and appears of be a site to buy his “merch,” poetry and music.
I’m not trying to be mean. I’m just wondering what this charity actually does.

Thank you for your good questions and request for clarification.

“Tavius Aiton, […] a degree from Santa Clara University […]”

I appreciate you pointing this out and understand the confusion. I attended Santa Clara University, and am considered an alumni by the university due to the amount of credits I have am part of the alumni association. While I attended and an alumni, I did not receive my Bachelor’s Degree from Santa Clara University, nor should that be indicated anywhere.

Clarification on “Monica Martin as a psychologist […]”

Monica Martin is not listed nor identified as a clinical psychologist, which associates with a licensing number. She is currently a PhD candidate in Psychology, and will become a (nonclinical) Psychologist upon completion.

She holds a National Board Certification for Therapeutic Bodywork (NBCTMB #707112), and is licensed for hand on therapy, which she incorporates with her Masters education and training in Holistic Psychology, specializing in trauma recovery.

“[H]ow [does] this charity delivers the services”?

Currently, the nonprofit works with individuals (both kids and adults) at their location in San Jose, CA (located stated below). The individual sessions vary depending on the needs of the clients; interventions include mindfulness, meditation, movement, or body awareness.

In addition, the nonprofit is currently in discussions with a local school as well as different nonprofits to collaborate and create complimentary group programs, work with at risk children and youth who need emotional support, wellness, and education. We are currently undergoing www.mindfulschools.org training to bring into local schools.

Inquiring clarification of “The charity’s address”

Thank you for noting outdated information on the website. The original address was used initially when the nonprofit was in the beginning iterations before Live Like Goose established a physical location for services in February of this year:
      2170 the Alameda, Suite 200
      San Jose, CA 95126

Please don’t hesitate to ask for further clarification.
      Thank you,
      Live Like Goose
