Sheriff's Deputy Arrests Juveniles for String of Burglaries

Dorrington, CA....On Monday evening, March 31, 2008, The Calaveras County Sheriffs Offce arrested 2 juveniles for burglary and possession of stolen property in the Dorrington area. Deputies believe the pair who are brothers, are responsible for an estimated 16 residential burglaries in the area. Sheriffs Deputy Chris Dorsey was conducting extra patrol in the area of Chum ash Circle in response to a recent rash of burglaries in the area. Deputy Dorsey noticed two juveniles walking on Chumash...


Circle that matched the description of possible suspects in the recent burglaries. Deputy Dorsey contacted the juveniles regarding the burglaries and discovered where the juveniles lived. Later in his shift Deputy Dorsey contacted the juveniles and a parent at their home. Deputy Dorsey interviewed both juveniles who subsequently admitted to committing the burglaries in the area.

The juveniles told Deputy Dorsey they had searched for unoccupied homes in the area that had windows or doors that were left unlocked or open.

Additionally the juveniles would search the exterior of homes for hidden keys. It appears at this time the juveniles were breaking in to the houses looking
for alcohol. Deputy Dorsey also recovered stolen bottles of alcohol from the juveniles home.

Investigators believe the pair is responsible for 16 residential burglaries in the area based on the juveniles admission.

The juveniles were arrested for burglary, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and vandalism. The juveniles were turned over to the Calaveras County Probation Department.
