California Gold Rush History Comes to Life at Columbia State Historic Park's Annual Diggins Tent

Columbia, CA...Columbia State Historic Park will present “Diggins Tent Town 1852”, their annual living history event this coming May 16th through May 19th 2019. Sponsored by the non-profit organization Friends of Columbia and Columbia State Historic Park and depicted by over 150 costumed volunteers, visitors can experience the events and environment of an 1850’s mining camp that is re-created in detail with period-accurate clothing, food and entertainment.

This event leads visitors through life in 1852 Columbia. This includes the powerful stories of early miners, women in the mines, and their politics and daily events. Meet the merchants, artisans and entertainers who have come to the Diggins to “mine the miners’ pockets.” Interact with and observe the lifestyles of the early miners as they prepare their meals, launder their clothing, and care for gardens and livestock. Learn about their crafts, how their children played, their music and other forms of entertainment – including gambling! A variety of foods, drinks and other items are available for purchase inside the event.

Open from 10AM to 4PM daily, admission to Columbia “Diggins 1852” is $10 per adult, $2 per child ages 4 through 12, and children 3 and under are free. There is no charge for parking or admission to the park. For more information contact Columbia Visitor Services at www.parks.ca.gov/Columbia or call (209) 588-9128.

Columbia State Historic Park, located in Tuolumne County, California, is designated as a National Historic Landmark District and has been preserved to tell the story of the towns which arose during the California Gold Rush to serve the needs of miners. California State Parks has restored and continues to preserve over 30 of the original brick buildings along the
town’s Main Street.

Columbia State Historic Park annually hosts over 400,000 visitors and is a major tourist destination in Tuolumne County. Its many historic-style stores and restaurants are run by over 20 Concessionaires whose businesses, along with park staff and volunteers, help recreate the experience of the California Gold Rush for visitors from around the world.

This is an amazing, awesome, and unforgettable event! I am so disappointed that once again they have scheduled it on the same weekend as the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump when the whole school district is out from Wed-Mon.
This event is perfectly suited for the 4th and 5th graders, and being local residents who should learn and appreciate their Gold Rush history, I am really sad they will miss out on this field trip opportunity.
Please reconsider why you are excluding that whole county.

Yeah some folks just have that "fever" all paranoid and everything! Prices may be higher than usual, but hey-aren't they like that everywhere? It is still a nice tradition to carry on with this fair and to remember this county's history and appreciate it's heritage along with the activities to celebrate such heritage,i.e., the frog jum p itself-which by the way I have relatives who have been carrying on with this tradition since 1958. My mom saw the first frog jump when she was 7 years old in 1928 when it used to be on Main Street in downtown Angels.

Women are only half right in their assumptions. Speaking for myself, yes, I'm constantly think about it all day long doing intimate stuff with beautiful women. I can't help it. I'm a guy. I wish I could be indifferent about getting it on with the opposite sex, whenever I wanted to, just like women seemingly are able to do. But, I'm a guy, not a woman.

That said, while women are right in their assumption that we (guys) think about that stuff all the time, they are wrong to assume that this means we'll have sex with any hot woman that throws herself at us. It could happen if the woman throws herself at a guy who's part of a group. He might be giving in because out of fear that he'd never hear the end of it from his idiot friends. That's a guy who easily caves in to peer pressure. That, however, isn't me. I personally wouldn't care what my friends say.

For as much as I think of all of these stupidities that I fantasize about women, that's all they are, fantasies. If some super hot woman threw herself at me, I would balk and tell her "NO!". Can you imagine? My internal red flags would be going off like crazy and all kinds of really bad things about would be popping in my head about her. I would be thinking what the hell does this woman who I don't know at all want - REALLY!

I would literally be in fear of my life! That's because I would be thinking she most likely wants to rob me and there are probably guys waiting close by ready to jump me if go along with this decoy. I would want to get the hell away from that woman throwing herself at me and just generally get the hell out of there.

That's not the only thing I would be thinking. Maybe this guy has AIDS and/or other STDs AND WANTS TO GIVE IT TO ME!!! No way! I don't want that. Lastly, I think it's generally wrong to be sleeping around indiscriminately with women, ESPECIALLY, someone who I don't even know.

So no, ladies. While a guy like me has all fantasies all day long about women, like them finding me irresistible and throwing themselves at me BUT, at the end of the day they're nothing more than just fantasies.

I don't for a moment as actual situations that should happen in real. I think those stupid fantasies do serve a real biological purpose. It's the way a guy is constantly thinking about ridiculous fantasies about women than ultimately pushes us to reach out in the real world to get to know a woman to get in a relationship.

I personally think if men were to lose those constant all day long desires for women, which include the ridiculous fantasties, the Human race would go extinct. Reproduction wouldn't completely cease, but it surely would sink to levels way below what's necessary to keep our species afloat.

You have to understand that it takes A LOT to motivate a guy to do something that's completely out of his comfort zone, namely making the bold step to walk up and talk a woman, someone who, in most cases, is a complete stranger.

Man, you talk about your parents like they were so wonderful. Seems like they only taught you to hate and denigrate the "other". Maybe try harder to be a good person. You're on the dole and an ignorant druggie bigot posing as a moralistic saint. Get a job welfare boy.
